Hi all,
My name is Jo, I am a Holistic Health Coach with a focus on Athletes. I am a retired gymnast and understand the food battle as an athlete.
Do you struggle with Sugar cravings? You are not alone..?
Sugar qualifies as an addictive substance for two reasons:
1. Eating even a small amount creates a desire for more.
2. Suddently quitting causes withdrawal symptoms such as headaches, mood swings, cravings and fatigue.
What is your favorite sugary treat? What time of day do you feel you most desire sugar?
Look forward to hearing from you....
Be Well.... and Be You....

Controlling sugar consumption is the basis for the Mayo Clinic "Eat All You Want" diet. Medically sound and doesn't require any special foods, just a trip to the grocery story.
The best way to control sugar craving is to stop eating carbohydrates. Carbihydrates ingestion causes insulin production. insulin causes sugar craving.
A good diet is one that has adequate protein and vegetables with no carbohydrates. After few days on this diet, the carb-insulin cycle pump stops and typically a person loses his or her appetite and start losing weight. This is the basis for the diet we use at our clinic and it has been very succesful. people typically lose 50-100 pounds over 6-8 months.

Hi Jo,
yes, I'm struggling with sugar cravings. I don't eat complex carbs, such as grains, oats, and the like. I don't eat junk or processed foods either, yet I still experience strong cravings. The sort of stuff I eat for a sweet treat is dates mixed with nuts, coconut oil, coconut flakes and raw cocoa powder. I have my main meal in the morning, which is usually a large salad with tons of fresh veg, maybe an egg, avocado or fish, followed by some nuts and seeds (trying to cut back on nuts as of next week, because I overeat on those too) and for a sweet afters I usually have frozen grapes with nuts and an apple. I do crave the sweet stuff pretty much all the time I eat or any time when I'm hungry. I can't have it in moderation either, because every time I have just a bit, I always end up overeating and that's not just my imagination. Do you have any suggestions?
Thanks,
Em
Honestly I have never experienced a craving for sugar. I can not even eat sweet biscuits, chocolate, etc. but I love sour fruits and juices. maybe I'm lucky :)
What I have a sugar craving, I will eat 1 tbsp of honey. That nips it in the bud and satifies that craving for the remainder of the day. If it should creep up on me again, I will eat fruit to take care of it.
Hope this helps.
