Ever meditate while running?

Hi guys~

I've been running marathons for the last few years, and as my mileage increases with each training cycle, I always find myself in a particularly present and awake state of mind.  After running through all the stuff I need to get done and problems I want to solve, I just really start to connect with my body, the road and the atmosphere.  Sound familiar to anyone?  I am guessing it might.

Anyway, my hubby is a long time meditator and we've talked about the mental state a lot over the past few years.  We've been together for AGES but have never worked on anything as a team until we came up with this idea called Meditation on The Run.  It's a synthesis of our passions and interests: a guided running meditation to lead you directly into that clear, open and present state that we usually just accidentally stumble upon somewhere on the road.

We just launched the site about two weeks ago and we are excited by the response we are starting to receive. As a fellow Active.com-er, I hope you will check it out and let me know what you think!

Sincerely,

Oooo!  You should check out this idea over on the Barefoot Running Society site, and solicit responses there.  BF runners are generally nothing if not "present."  When every single step is a matter of care and sensitivity and discrimination, one tends not to find oneself drifting.  Fairly often people mention the fact that they've shed the iPods and the Garmins, the training plans, and even watches because all that is just distraction.

Good luck and I'll wander by to check you out presently.

Ahh!  I see that shedding the iPod would be a triffle premature in the case of your Meditation program.  Still, it sounds cool.  In your promo info, you mention some of the particular benefits and it sounds like a list of side benefits of barefoot running: Form, posture, injury reduction, etc.  Like I said, there's a big intersection of interests between your meditation and my running tribe.  Peace!
