Didn't play High School basketball?

I'm seventeen years old and I just finished high school. I started playingbasketball my junior year and haven't stopped since. I've gotten really good. I was a football player my whole life and I switched to basketball a little late so I didn't play it in high school. Anyone have any advice on how to get to college basketball without being scouted? any advice on how to get my name out there? Thank a lot .

The best thing you can do is try to get in front of a coach for a workout sometime in July.  This is the recruiting period for most colleges and they can evaluate you and you can go from there.  If you start local you can pick the colleges around you and find out when they play and just show up at the gym untill the coaches let you play.  You have no game film to send so you will need to really commit to making a few trips to go play for some schools.  Once you get in front of them and you perform they will either have a spot for you or not.  If a scholarship is generated then HOORAYYYY but if one is not then you will need to go for a Walk On position.  This is a NON Scholarship situation where you would be on the team but pay your own way to school.  I have seen pleanty of players start out as a Walk On and end up with Full Scholarships after 1 year.

Keep working hard, and try your best to BUG the hell out of every local college around and then branch out from there as options come and or go.  Try to find an opportunity to play in front of the coaches at the college your interested in and that is really all you can ask for at this point that being a fair evauation as to if you can help their team or not.  You can literally call each schools assistant coach untill they either answer the phone or they call you back and ask them when a time their players are going to hoop and just show up.  Usually small college assistants are in the office and will answer the phone or at least call you back.  As late as you are in the recruiting process I would recommend NOT calling any of the Division I schools in your area because their scholarships are already in line for other players by this time of year.  Go for the small colleges - Junior College, NAIA, Division II and even Division III, that would be your best route.  I hope this helps some. Good Luck!

Live, breath, and die basketball! I had a similar situation to yours except that I couldn't play my senior year due to state eligibility rules by transferring schools. Alot of people told me I was done with the sport, but they didn't know that players can walk-on a team without having played HS bball! I'm going to a JUCO in Washington in the fall semester and our tryouts are September 8. Don't worry about anyone else telling you that the route 2 bball is impossible. Be proactive and work on your game when no one is looking.

well if you put it as your goal it's the same thing. don't you think that's a little cocky? especially if you didn't play high school ball.
