The South Indy Dirtbags are looking to upgrade in several spots. We will play a full slate of tournaments and weekday games from April to mid July 2012. Winter workouts start early November. Workouts include baseball strength, speed, agility and skills development. We have access to more than one local high school field for 2012.
Day 1 of tryouts will be a pro-style workout with players being evaluated on throwing, pitching, catching, fielding, hitting, 60yd dash and will be monitored by our group of coaches, most are former college players.
Day 2 of tryouts will be a showcase style scrimmage where each player will be evaluated in game situations. Tryout procedures will allow for each pitcher and catcher to be seen for an inning or two and each batter to get several live at bats in game situations.
Our philosophy is to stay positive with players while being able to keep a focused, disciplined team. We give scheduled breaks from games and practices each month so families can still enjoy the summer. These breaks will be posted in winter so families have ample advanced notice to plan vacations and long weekends.
Our experience working with advanced level players helps us to keep the entire game and age of players in focus as we develop future high school and college players.
We are looking for "gym rats" who love the game of baseball as much as we do and are willing to fight through adversity to be successful on the field and off the field. We are seeking players who want a future in the game and are willing to take responsibility themselves for their future by working hard and showing up for workouts, learning from our coaches, and showing up to play to win every day out. We go wiht a relatively small roster so each player gets ample opportunity to earn a spot on the field for games.
Tryouts are held at Whiteland Community High School in Whiteland Indiana (south of Indianapolis off of I-65 exit 95). The field is on Main Street right by the school.
Tryout times are from 2pm to 6pm August 20 and 21. Players trying out should plan to be there for both days.
