$8,000 Big Shot Championships Volleyball Tournament at Bally’s Casino

Spalding's KOB All-Weather Volleyball will be the official ball for 2011

 

The Big Shot Volleyball Championships, presented by 4C Totally Light 2Go, will return to Atlantic City on August 6-7 in front of Bally’s Casino. The tournament is entering its 21st season bringing top beach volleyball players to Atlantic City

 

Top male and female doubles teams will compete for $8,000 cash prizes at the tournament, courtesy of Bally’s Casino, East End Volleyball and Great American Volleyball. Players will also earn points in the $25,000 Volley America Grand Prix, to be awarded at the end of the season. Tournament play will start at 9 am Saturday with semi-finals and finals starting Sunday at 11 am. Admission is free for all spectators.

 

The Big Shot Volleyball Series holds 35 events leading to the October 22-23 $5,000 Volley America National Championships at Clearwater Beach, FL. Many players with Pro Beach Volleyball experience have competed in past Big Shot Championships including the current Olympic Gold Medalist Phil Dalhausser who won the 2004 tournament and finished 2nd in 2003.

 

Top male players in this year’s tournament include the top 2 teams on the East Coast, Mike DiPierro from Pompano Beach, FL and his partner Adam Roberts from Myrtle Beach, SC and Steve Grotowski and Adrian Carambula. Grotowski is currently playing on the FIVB World Professional Tour and is expected to represent Great Britain in the 21012 London Olympics for who he has dual citizenship. Adam Roberts is fresh off his first pro tour championship after winning the Malibu NVL Championships July 23-34 in California.

 

Top female players on the East Coast will also be present including Florida’s Tara Kuk/Olaya Pazo and Kristen Batt/Brooke Sweat. Many additional top players will be competing at this year’s Big shot championships

 

The Big Shot Championships provide an excellent venue to watch top players on their way up to the US Pro Tours. Plus the public will be able to meet and greet the players at the Saturday evening player’s party to be held at Bally’s Beach Bar from 7-9 pm Saturday.

 

Separate divisions will be held for players of intermediate and novice levels on Saturday and Sunday. The $60 entry fee entitles players to a full day of tournament play, an official Totally Light 2 GO Big Shot Volleyball t-shirt, and prizes from event sponsor’s Bally’s Casino, Hot Buttered Sunglasses, SOB Volleyball Vacations, Sarasota Convention & Visitors Bureau, Spalding,, Zem Bootie Sand Socks, Sweet Tomatoes, Rider Sandals, Park & Sun net systems, Dig Magazine, Rox Volleyball, 1st Place Volleyball, Sportime, and Horry County.

       8 am to 6 pm Saturday for Men's & Women's Open, A, & B Divisions

         9 am to 6  pm Sunday for Coed Open, A, & B, & Men's AA & B Divisions

         Playoffs 4-6 pm each day

         Men’s Open semifinals begin at 11 am Sunday

         Women’s Open semifinals begin at 6 pm Saturday

Cost:     Free for spectators, $60/team
