Failure is not an option. However, this is a process that will take some time. Though I fully expect to be competitive the first year it will take a couple of years to become one of the premier teams in our area and possibly three years to become a force throughout the southeast. Be patient and we will make it happen. Our ultimate goal is to begin our peak at age 13 and reach our peak at age 16 and maintain thru age 18.

We will have a ‘WINNING DEFENSE’. We will accomplish this by doing numerous drills, daily routines and many repetitions of situations that we will be faced with during a game situation. Our number ‘1’ priority will be to become the best defensive team in the southeast and we will spend the time necessary to make this happen. We will focus on eliminating big innings and reducing the pressure put on our defense at all times thru positioning, proper pitch calls and correct management of game situations.

We will ‘RUN, RUN, AND RUN SOME MORE’. We will be very aggressive at the plate and do what is necessary to put pressure on the opposing defense as often as we can. We will move runners, steal bases and take advantage of every opportunity to score. Our hitting style will not be restricted to any particular style but flexible to the players’ strengths. In recent years I have consulted with the following coaches regarding hitting techniques. (Ralph Weekly – Tennessee, Pat Murphy – Alabama, Frank Reed – UTC, Donald Pickett – NE LA, Beth Keylon-Randolph – Chattanooga State, Ted Evans – Armstrong Atlantic)

We will be very aggressive in our pitching style. However, telling a pitcher to throw strikes is not acceptable on our team. A good hitter will hit a strike more often than not so we will work with the umpire to expand our zone each game. This will be a work in progress and will require our pitchers to practice both on their own and during our practice times. We will have a huge advantage over our competition on having Nikki on our staff as she is a proven winner who has dominated hitters across the country for the past several years. I am a hug proponent of pitchers who take from Beth Keylon-Randolph, Dennis Waters or Nikki.

We will have practices that are very productive for each player and meet the team’s needs as well. We will start on time and expect the girls to be prepared and ready to go at the start time. In order to maximize our potential missed practices will need to be held to a minimum and only in the case of sickness or prior approval from a coach.  All practices will have an agenda of activities that will prepare us to improve week over week and year over year.
