What's your favorite or most usable item this year?
To clarify my post I'm referring to the fun freebies in your goodie bag or stuff the vendors have at the booths to promote themselves.
Things like pens, bottle openers etc. Do they just end up in the trash or do you actually use the items?
Not sure exactly what you mean - like, stuff in a race bag? I've gotten a pretty good water bottle and some gels / mini-lara bars which were nice.
WORST swag items: when you win your age group and get a vest...in the wrong size...that's bright green (in a bad way). No thanks!
For a 5K, tech shirt. Very nice and very useful.
I once got a pair of cycling socks in a bike race (not a prize, given to everyone) also very nice.
Free finish line photo is kind of nice.
Haven't had, but might be good- reflective bands or little LEDs (for dusk, even useful for walking after dark).
But please, no more t-shirts! Unless they're a really cool design that people might continue to wear.
The best freebie I got this year was a one day free pass to the local YMCA, worth $15. Of course the YMCA was sponsoring the race...
