Just did the Jersey Shore Half Marathon this past Sunday ... lost almost 10 minutes from my best time only three years ago.
I attribute this slow down to a general lack of speed work on my part.
I used to do 3-4 miles "fast runs" and that seemed to help, but I am wondering if that is the best approach.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.
In terms of background, I am 53 and run about 3-4 times per week.

what was your training like this time as opposed to the time you trained for the other events
if the training were the same -hang it on a off day,and start your training for the next event with a little more vigor(something to prove)
can you give examples of the type of speed work you did
was speed work done every week as well
i am only asking these question for me to know if i maybe able to improve myself in my own running
