Exploration of Flow in Marathon Runners
IRB Protocol # 20032
What does "Flow" or "being in the zone" mean to you? How many times have you experienced that feeling during a race? How can marathoners get into Flow more readily and consistently during their race?
I am a doctoral student in the Department of Kinesiology at Temple University conducting research on flow: an optimal state of arousal that has been associated with peak performance within sports as well as the performing arts. If you are a marathon runner above the age of 18 and willing to participate in a two-part study examining the relationship of Flow to performance in marathon runners, you may be eligible to complete several online surveys regarding factors that influence Flow during your race. The surveys will take approximately 20 minutes to complete. All information you provide will remain confidential in terms of personally identifying information.
If you are interested in participating in the study, please contact Leeja Carter at: lmcarter@temple.edu.
Thank you for your help with this research.
