Make me a mountain

I'm training for the Mount Mitchell Challenge in February...currently training in Chapel Hill, NC...needless to say I'm not in mountain country - what's the best way to train for the ascent/descent of the 6,684ft monster??

Appreciate the tips!

You have some great hills in Chapel Hill (Larrel Hill. Franklin, ect).   Do some repeats up them.  45-60 min drive will give you some great trails and pretty close to mountains to run in.  Do your weekly miles at Chapel Hill and drive for some of your long runs to one of the closer NC Mountains like Pilot Mountain or 2 hours to Boone.  Good Luck be thankful you are not on the beach.

If you've got a mole hill, then I can make a mountain.
