No hills to run for "hilly workouts?"

I'm in a bit of a quandry here... virtually ALL training plans incorporate "hilly workouts" into them. The 10k plan offered here does as well. I live in South Florida and there are NO hills to be found. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to modify the workouts for this situation? I am a fairly new runner, so please pardon my ignorance! Thanks in advance for all help! ![]()
Do you have access to a treadmill?
Not currently, but I'm considering joining a gym in the very near future, in which case I would.
How about parking garages?
Head over to the coast and run hill repeats on the bridges that connect to the barrier islands. I live near Orlando and we like to run the bridges in Daytona and Ormond Beach. It's a bit of a drive but being able to take a dip in the ocean afterward is good for the sole ![]()
Any bridge will do, it doesn't need to be that long of an incline.
Treadmill.
Or substitute speed workouts instead like 400 or 800 meter intervals.

+1 to rbird's post... if there's a parking garage or stadium that you have access to, running up those will simulate a hill perfectly.
Like rbird mentioned, speed workouts on a track are great substitutes for hill training, too--their purpose is almost exactly the same (building leg strength to make you faster, while working in your anaerobic heart rate zone).
