Re: Dallas/Fort Worth Runners where are you?????

I did.  I ran a small race in Burleson.  I beat the female winner's time from last year, but didn't beat my previous time from two years ago (didn't participate in it last year).  I was satisfied with my time.  It was so hot and humid.  Pretty miserable race because of that.  They put the results in the paper, but left my name out    So much for fame and fortune...haha.  Kattzoo was there too.  She's looking great from all her marathon training.
And yes...my son's team won their game Saturday against Aledo. They beat them 16-14 in overtime! !http://www.coolrunning.com/forums/smile.gif|src=http://www.coolrunning.com/forums/smile.gif|border=0!
Not sure what my next race will be.  Like I was telling Kattzoo, around mile two I was asking myself, "what in the heck am I doing?!"  Might find a 5K in October.  We'll see.  I like the fall races when it's not so humid.

Re: Dallas/Fort Worth Runners where are you?????

I ran in Aledo Saturday. It was a sad performance for me, but it sets a standard from which to work. The course is relatively tough as it featured a downhill first mile, but you climbed back to the finish. It was pretty hot and humid as I looked like I had jumped into someone's swimming pool along the way.

Great job, Cora! I'm assuming you won that race ... dunno why the paper listed the age-group winners and not the overalls.

Re: Dallas/Fort Worth Runners where are you?????

Wow, good job, pesiv! That's a great result.

I did a 10K at White Rock Lake -- thought about the one at Joe Pool, but I was shooting for time rather than placement and I knew the WRL course would be flat. Finished 4th OA, 1st masters, in 40 flat. That and my 5K split (19:45 -- yes, out too fast) are both PRs.

I'll try to have a report up in R&RR later today.

Again, great job!

Get to let the little one tear into his first cake and go on a sugar rampage for a while.... Read your race report Greenman sounds like fun run, though I'm a little too shy for that. Kepp running all....

Wow.  Congratulations on that time.  I know you've been working so hard to get back to where you used to be.  Looks like you're getting there.  That's awesome.  Happy birthday to your son.  My daughter had hers Wednesday.  She's still on her sugar rampage!

If it was a 5k PR and you held on to PR in the 10k that is phenominal. I'd bet you could easily drop that 5k p.r. intolow 19 or high 18 if you tapered for a 5k race. Either way thats great.FYI on the JoePool course its flat and there was $50 to overlall M & F and Masters M & F in both the 5k and 10k races. But there where some harriers there to claim that. Good Job*

Thanks, pesiv! Yep, it was the Dash for Dignity -- I posted a long report in the race report forum if you're interested. My old 5K PR was soft -- I ran it in April, and matched it in a 5-mile race a few weeks ago where they had the 5K point marked. I suspect I could run about a 19:10, maybe better with a good taper.

I noticed in the paper that the Joe Pool race had some fast folks. The prize money must indeed have drawn some good folks. Helps explain why turnout at the DfD was so low.

Thanks again!

Re: Dallas/Fort Worth Runners where are you?????

Bumpity bumpity! Also, I posted a race report[/URL" target="_blank"> over in R&RR.

I'll be doing the Pumpkin Dash this weekend in Irving. I was told by a friend (and have confirmed) that the course is pancake-flat. Normally I'd do a longer run as a tune-up, as my program recommends, but there aren't any!!! Ten 5Ks this weekend, no 10Ks ... weird, for October. Anyway, I'll run the race full tilt, then run the course again at marathon pace.

Anyone else racing this weekend for sure?
