biking college

I live in alabama and Im 23 and 24 in sept. I want to go back to college. But I rather go back and go for computers but I also want to do cycling. Does anyone know any colleges that have biking teams. If anyone knows, just push me in the right direction.

Re: biking college
there are quite a few teams, i compete the easter collegiate cycling conference (eccc) with teams all over the mid-atlantic and northeast. this link, http://www.usacycling.org/ncca/, should provide you with a resource for learning more about districts and teams. i can say that columbia has a great team!

Re: biking college
Most, if not all, major universities will have club teams. Official NCAA competitive teams are a different story but the link provided to you previously is a good place to start.

You will be hard pressed to find a first rate school (Big Ten) that takes cycling more seriously than Indiana University, where the Little 500 remains the highlight of the school year (as made famous in the movie "Breaking Away". It's a beautiful campus with good terrain for training, unfortunately it is in the midwest which shortens the biking season compared to warm weather states.

Re: biking college
I might be off base here, but depending on how many years you went to college previously, you might not be eligible under collegiate rules. If the team is an intramural team, such as IU, that probably would not be a problem. Bloomington is a great place for riding, but I don't know how strong their computer science program is (I'm biased, it's my alma mater. With respect to the length of the riding season, you are probably only off the bike a couple of months outside (Jan and Feb) depending on your constitution.

You might look at Marian College in Indianapolis. Now that's a really serious cycling school! http://athletics.marian.edu/cycling.shtml
