Good Morning Boomers!
Good runs already this morning.
{{{Sheak}}}
Started out with a 2-mile walk with DH. No shin splints for him today (yippee - he was so happy!) probably because he stretched first today, and we started out at a slower pace, adding brisk-i-ness after 10 minutes.
It began to rain as we were finishing and I headed back out for a decidedly un-sproinky 7 miles in 39 windy and rainy degrees. The sluggishness was perhaps because I’ve been trying to diet off my Easter candy, or perhaps because I have 520 miles on this pair of shoes now, or maybe just because I hate wind and rain and cold.
As I was chugging along down the middle of the street in the dark, a largish 30-something woman in a nurse’s smock came hurrying out of her house and across her lawn toward her car, parked on the street. I wondered if I should call out a greeting, but here I was, galumphing along like a Clydesdale, feet slapping the wet pavement loudly (I am not a graceful runner) and I thought, “Surely she can hear the racket I’m making.” But no, as she rounded the car and saw me she jumped a foot and shrieked, “OH MY GOD, you do that to me EVERY MORNING!” Actually I’ve only done this to her once before to my knowledge, several months ago. At any rate, I burst out laughing (I swear I couldn’t help it) and by the time I thought to try and choke out an apology it was too late, I was 20 feet further down the street and she was in her car. I guess I should never assume people are seeing me coming.
And she wasn’t even wearing headphones.
Happy Wednesday!
