Why won't my songs shuffle?

When I started the workouts my iphone app shuffled my songs just fine.  The second workout on the second week my songs just started repeating and I have to manually change them myself.  I'm trying to concentrate on running not changing my songs.  My settings are set on shuffle and not repeat.  Am I missing something?  The app is on an iPhone 4.  Any help would be appreciated.
