Volley America to Bring Extra Benefits to Beach Players

Volley America is entering its 2ndseason in 2012 after a very successful inaugural season. The organization, acompilation of efforts by East End Volleyball and Great American Volleyball, isdesigned to promote cooperation among beach volleyball organizations around theU.S. to create benefit and coordinated seeding and scheduling for players


Volley America’s goal is to build anorganization run by players for players that funnels its resources intobenefits for members. The $15 annual membership fee funds player benefits suchas:

  • $25,000 Volley America Grand Prix for doubles players
  • $10,000 Grand Prix for Grass Players (new in 2012)
  • Volley America Nationals for doubles players
  • Volley America League Championships for 4 and 6-playerdivision teams which includes a $1,000 costume contest sponsored by The BeachHut
  • Discounts for purchasing sponsor products such as Park& Sun net systems
  • Prizes such as Spalding All Weather Volleyballs andVolley America clothing given to promoters
  • Insurance coverage for promoters allowing more beachvolleyball events


Volley America has 19 memberorganizations with over 10,000 dues paying members:

Current sponsors include Spalding Kingof the beach All Weather Volleyballs, 4C Totally Light 2Go Powdered Drink Stix,Boardee Portable Scoreboards, ZemGear & Park and Sun Net Systems.


Volley America has instituted a NationalRanking System that will be used to seed tournaments. The system will be basedon the number of teams in a division and 4 levels of play: Open forprofessional level players, AA for very skilled, A for intermediate and B fornovice level players. There will be divisions for male, female and coed doublesplus junior divisions 18 and under, 16 and under, 14 and under and 12 and underboys and girls.


One place where Volley America will bestronger than any previous national beach organization is in the recreationalleague area. With strong support from league programs at East End Volleyball(2500 players), Bradford Beach (1500 players) and Newport Volleyball Club (500 players),there is already a strong base for a national championship which will be heldat Cedar Beach on Long Island, NY in September. Over 40 nets for 700 playerswill make the Volley America League Nationals an event not to be missed. Therewill be bands, food and drink at the host Beach Hut plus a costume contest with$1,000 given away to the best costumes.


Additional Doubles Championships will beheld on the Jersey Shore in August, California in September and in October inFlorida
