If you have Netflix or the equivalent, watch this documentary...these guys ran the equivalent of 170 marathons in 110 days, without a single day of rest ....across the the upper African continent and straight through the Sahara Desert.
The reason I stuck it in the Newbie Cafe is that one of the runners, Ray Zahab, was a relative newcomer to running; and it had only been a couple of years before that he was a pack-a-day smoker and hard partyer, by his own admission.
Pretty inspirational stuff! Next time I think I am in "pain" during my C25K program, remembering these maniacs will help me push through what little discomfort I think I might be feeling.
Check it out and enjoy!
Way cool movie, I saw that and then was recommended by Netflix: Ride the Divide (about mountain bikers riding from Canada to Mexico). Mind boggling what these ultra endurance athletes can do.

I believe there's another thread from a few months back with a fairly exhaustive list of running books and movies. I'll see if I can find it sometime today and post a link.
Found it! Here you go: http://community.active.com/thread/176472
