I didn't see a thread for this, so I started one ![]()
Just completed W1D3 of C25K last night. It was my first time running outside, and it was a whole lot different than the treadmill, but I have to say I really enjoyed it. We were having pre-storm weather of mid 70's with strong winds. Actually felt kind of balmy. I went up and down my long driveway, which has a little peak in the middle, so I can say it literally is uphill both ways
. It went well. I was very proud to have finished feeling like I had a really good workout, but not completely worn out!
Come on February Starters - share your progress here too!
Hi Sharly,
I just got an account and did my first c25k workout today. I was poking around the internet looking for a site that I could talk to other people and get encouragement and give it. Sparkspeople website was way to complicated for me!! I have walked alot but want to complete a 5k an April 21st all running. I want to set an example for my daughter who struggles with her weight also. I need to lose 27 pounds. Well I hope this goes well and I hear from you and some others on this site!! Have a great day.
Tina
I am a 44 year old mom who is trying to get in the best shape of my life by starting the c25k program and hopefully along the way improve my blood sugars and get off some of my type II diabetes medications. Oh and I also want to look good in a bathing suit on the beach this summer!!!
Hi Tina!
How exciting! We have a lot in common
We've started at about the same time, and I hope to run a 5k on April 21st, as well! I'm so glad you posted here! I've only been on the forum since this past Saturday, but have been very encouraged in that time. I think it's a really good place to be! I think you will be setting a great example for your daughter!! I'm not an expert by any means, but I do have experience with weight loss, so if you would like to talk about that, it's another of my favorite subjects!!
It's great to hear from you! I hope everything goes well too! We can be co-motivators for each other!
Hi, new to the C25K program and I did W1D1 yesterday. I am impressed that I did it at all. can't wait to be able to run a 5K in no time. Signing up for my first 5K in May.
Hey! Glad you Posted here! Congrats on doing your first session. I'm looking forward to. Glad to have someone else to share this experience with. Keep us updated on your progress!
I tried to post to you this morning but it said it was too busy or something. I walked 3 miles today with my friend. I am going to do the c25k thing on Mon wed fri and other stuff inbetween. I go to a weight loss group called T.O.P.S. (take off pounds sensibly) I started in Sept. at 159 now I am 147, slow but steady, I am hoping that the running will help speed things up a bit. I am really nervous about signing up for the 5k so soon but I figure the worse that can happen is I will have to walk a little. How is it going with you? I am going to go say hi to the new person below now!! Have a great night.

Hi Akirby!!
Welcome to this thread, I am new also. Signing up for my first 5k in April. Monday I will be doing w1d2, hope it is as easy as the first day!!

Hey Tina! I'm glad you got to go for a walk with your friend! I had planned to complete W2D1 yesterday, but the day got away from me. I did burn a lot of calories doing housework and running errands. I was actually disappointed last night that I hadn't been able to "run" - maybe this is the addiction part setting in ![]()
I'm not familiar with TOPS, but have always assumed it would be similar to weight watchers. It doesn't sound like you have too much to lose, and that's always harder. Adding this program may speed things along some for you
I think having the 5K in the wings is great motivation, and you should definitely sign up. You are right - the worst that could happen is you walk part of it, and you have a really good time!!
It's going to be fun getting to know you better through the forum. I probaly would be willing to share more information through PM, so send me a message anytime you'd like!!
I hope this thread will grow to include more people in about the same stage we are. We need to form a mutual motivation club ![]()
Now, wish me luck on getting that workou done today!!
Take care!
Hey Everyone!!
It's a beautiful day here in Central Alabama, but the wind is cutting quite a bit. I did go outside and do my run up and down the driveway, and while it was doable, I could have done without the wind whizzing through my ears! W2D1 is a little more strenuous. At first I didn't think I could do it, but I DID!
I think doing it again will be easier. I suppose that's the whole idea behind the plan.
We are going to do this thing!!
How is everyone else doing?
Hey AKirby!! How are you doing? Have you done Day 2 Week 1? Have you already registered for your 5K? Let us know how you are doing...we need to keep each other motivated!!
I've started in early Feb, and am starting my d1w4. I will let you know how it goes.
My wife yesterday just started with d1w1. My dog and I of course ran it with her. It's a good start to a new hobby.
Northern CA weather has been perfect aside from the brisk north winds topping 35mph gusts. Other than that it's been a great reintroduction to running.
I also started in early February, and am starting w4 today. I've signed up for a 5K on April 21st.
I've never run an entire 5K, so that is my immediate goal. My long-term goal is to run a half-marathon in December. I had my first baby in August and am hoping to lose my baby weight (30 lbs to go!) in the course of reaching my running goals.
Hiya Dubya!
Wow, week 4 seems like a long way from week 2! I hope it goes well for you!
Great to hear your wifey has joined you! I know she appreciated the support from you and the pooch!
Glad you've had good weather. Ours has been fine here in central Alabama, but also more windy than I recall in previous years (of course, the wind wasn't blowing a lot in the living room when I was parked on the couch, either)
!
Please keep us posted on both your progress!
Take Care!
CBMiles - thanks for joining this thread! Another four-weeker! You guys are doing good! April 21st must the the date for 5Ks! Tina and I both are registered for them on that day.
I love your goal of the HM in December! I haven't really looked past that 5K at this point. Congratulations on your little one, and I'm sure training will help you shed that last little bit of weight you want to lose!
Good luck with week 4!! Keep us posted!!
Hi Sharly,
The last time I ran was in the polce academy, 33 years ago, in army boots, in formation and carrying my night stick. This should be fun. I'm starting W1D1 today.
