at pace would be goal race pace...

tempo pace would be about a minute slower than your best mile time...

HAHAH, I don't think I've ever run a 400 under 65, like ever... Someone shoot me, Kenyan perhaps?

    2 min REC
    800m hard

Then finish it off with 200m as hard as you can and then you drop dead.

    here is a WORKOUT!!!

    one 500 @ 800 pace with 100m 'float', then a 300m sprint

    then 800 @ 1500 pace, 200m float, 400m at same pace,100m float, then 300m sprint....

that workout sucks but u feel good after doin it bc u kno u did it and came out alive...the first time i did it. i was with my teamate and she about killed me on the 1500 part of the workout bc she has alot of confidence seeing as the 1500 is her best event in track...
we did the same workout last tuesday but this time i was leading the girls...it made me feel soo good that i had improved like that...

hwo can u do that many at that pace. i imagine that would leave you dead...i run a 59 for the 400 but then i do my 400s, they are at 80 or just under 80. i have like a 78 in the 25mph wind and did the rest in like 80 in that same wind.... we do have a 200 m jog - not a walk - in between...

    Re: Toughest Track Workouts

2.5 mile warmup, 16x400m at about 72 seconds with 200 meter jog in between, followed by 20 min cool down.

Another hard one is 2 mile warmup,10x1000m. Ran it through a trail, with a pretty big hill, followed by 3 mile cool down. lol, my coach first told my team that we were doing 15x1000m, but he told us he was kidding after about 5.

My coach in college told me of a workout he had his marathon team do when he coached at Lansing Michigan. 20x1 mile on the road at about a 6 to 7 minute pace with about 2 to 5 minutes rest between each mile. He tried talking me into doing it but, that is just a little to much for me coming back from an injury.

Thanks for sharing these treasured memories with us. It's hard to believe that Gefen has been gone a year already...Wow. It's also sad that so many vilified this man to try & make a name for themselves, after all he was just a human being like the rest of us & we all make mistakes, we just don't have millions pointing them out to us.
