INDIANA LAZERS 10U Additional Tryout Date August 9th (Northern IN)

The Indiana Lazers have announced an additional tryout for their 10U team on Thursday August 9th at 7:00 p.m. at Miller Field Grace College Softball Facility. http://goo.gl/maps/v5wpP

 

Although the Lazers are seeking to finalize their 2013 pitching staff, this tryout is open to all positions!

DITTMAR BIO

 

Deon Dittmar will be making the switch from baseball to softball in 2013. Dittmar was previously the Head Assistant Coach and Recruiting Coordinator at Grace College in Winona Lake, IN. While at Grace the Lancers enjoyed their greatest four year stretch in school history including setting a school record for wins in 2010.

 

Prior to joining the Grace College staff, Dittmar coached at Mishawaka High School after a four year stint at NAIA powerhouse Indiana Tech inwhich Tech was in the midst of six straight NAIA World Series appearances. During Dittmar's time at Tech the Warriors posted a185-83 record. At Tech, Dittmar coached one NAIA 1st Team All-American, one NAIA 2nd Team All-American, eight Honorable Mention All-Americans and three players who went on to play professional baseball.

 

Dittmar began his coaching career at Wapahani High School where the team was a constant in the state's top 25 rankings despite being one of the smallest schools in the state. Dittmar has also made coaching stops at NJCAA- Illinois Central College and NCAA Div. I - Western Illinois University. Dittmar has served as the recruiting coordinator and hitting coach at every school he has been.

 

As a very well known hitting coach Dittmar has had tremendous success.

A sampling of Coach Dittmar's Coaching Accomplishments:

  • At Wapahani HS. Dittmar coached the #4 and #8 all time single season batting average leaders in school history as well the #5, #9 and #10 all-time single season hit leaders.
  • Dittmar's 1998 ICC team finished 4th in the nation in team batting average.
  • Coached Western Illinois University's #1 and #2 single season home run leaders, #4 and #8 single season hits leader, #1 single season RBI leader, #2 career hits leader, #1 in career total bases, doubles, runs scored and #2, #3 and # 9 in career home runs.
  • Coached Indiana Tech's #1, #2, #3 and #5 single season batting average leader. Coached #1, #2, #4 and #6 all-time career batting average leader. Coached #1 and #5 single season hits leader. Coached the #1 and #2 career hits leader. Coached the #1, #2 and #4 single season home run leader. Coached the #1, #4 and #6 career home run leader.
  • At Grace College coached the school's top 2 all-time career hit leaders, #1 and #4 all-time RBI leaders, #1 and #4 career doubles leaders and #4 and #6 all-time career home run leaders.

 

Besides coaching at the high school and collegiate levels, Dittmar has participated as an instructor or clinician at numerous camps and clinics throught the United States and abroad. He is considered one of the top hitting instructors at the collegiate level.  Overall, Dittmar has coached or privately instructed more than 20 players who have played at some level of professional baseball including three first-round selections in the annual MLB Amateur Draft.

 

Dittmar is excited to take on the challenge of teaching and coaching youngladies especially within such a tremendous softball organization, theIndiana Lazers.
