First Time Triathelete, Injury Recovery?

I'm currently i week 3 of 10 training for the LateBird Triathlon in Whitewater, Wisconsin. I took a pretty big spill on then bike yesterday. It's not to bad, a little banged up, the worst seems to be a severe thumb strain (probably hooked it on the handelbars as I went over) which isn't to bad except I can't grip anything. This limits weight training and biking.
I'm looking for advice on recovery from injury, or how I should modify my schedule.
Thanks, I'm really looking forward to competing!

Its probably a good idea to rest for a day or 2 to make sure you don't have any other injuries and do some ice therapy for the thumb. If its just the thumb, you should be able to run and probably swim with no issues. If it were me, I'd probably splint my thumb and get back on the bike in a few days. I think the best advice is always to listen to your body and if it hurts stop. If it still hurts after a day or two see a doctor. Hope you are better quick and good luck with your race.
I would head over to the Doctor to get a once over. Than obviously rest. You can still hit the bike but keep it on the trainer so that you do not have to put much pressure on your thumb.
Good luck,

Hi there,
How was your race? I hope your injury healed well and that you're looking at events for 2013?
