This is the 2nd time I have done this race and the 3rd TriColumbus race I have done.  The organization was great as usual even with the increased number of participants.  I do think the entrances and exits for the bike and run need to be looked at and rerouted for better flow.  Also the swim exit still has that HUGE rock that I ran into for the 3rd time.  The bike course was better staffed this year, but non-race foot and cycle traffic made the bike course a little dicey.  Vehicle traffic is nearly non-existant and the police do a great job of keeping competitors safe.  The ride along the river is really nice and fast.  There were some super-riders that mistook this race for a Kona qualifier and rode/acted like jackasses.  Also note that this bike course is about 3K short of 40K.  The run course was different from last year and included more rolling hills.  I think this, coupled with the fact that the course actually measured 6.8mi (by my pace/time calculations) made for a slower run than I was expecting.  After mile 3 I didn't see another mile marker until the end which made it tougher to gauge pace and effort.  One or two more aid stations on the run would've been nice but not necessary.  The run along the riverwalk on both the AL and GA sides is beautiful and there is good spectator support in downtown Columbus.  There were a few timing glitches at the finish but they were quickly addressed and fixed.  The post race food was plentiful and the free massages were great as usual.  This is a great race that has the potential to grow and improve every year.  The race staff handled the weather issues that came up very well and pulled off a great race.  My wife and I will both be doing this one again.  I'm giving it 5 stars because we both really enjoyed this race but they still need to get their distances and signage dialed in.

    Fun race, smart race director.

    -Short bike and long run,

-needs more aid stations and mile markers ---organized start by expected swim times is defenitly needed.

It was a good event. There is one thing that would have helped me. I'd like to see distance markers during the run to give some idea of pace and distance. Enjoyed the race.

Great flexibility on the part of the race director.  I second all the of the improvements suggested relating to the run distance markers and transition flow.  Great eco-friendly awards. Thanks for a wonderful event.

great race. I've done the sprint and olympic and now next year in 13 i will add the half iron distance event. such a great company for the series of events. with all the staff and organization. from communication to route layout and being able to accomodate large turn out. you would think this series had been a round more that just 2 years. In the future I see this series being in the top 5 in the tri state area.

Pretty fun race. Fast, flat course.  That section of upstream swimming was a challenge, but nothing too bad.  The bike course was short and I think the run course may have been long.  They definitely could add mile markers to next years events.  The only major concern that I saw was that if the weather had been nice and the public had been out and about on that riverwalk that we biked on, it could've gotten dangerous with as many riders as there were and because we were racing.  People strolling along unsuspecting may be upset by us flying closely by them, or could unitentionally cause an accident.

Race was run well.  1000 meters downstream and a tough 500 back up stream.  The bike and the run are pretty flat and the course us fast.  The bricks they give out for awards are unique.    Two areas to improve on would be a water aid station somewhere on the bike route and better signs marking the split for the second bike loop and the finish.  Will definitely be back next year.

The organizer did a nice job and utilized technology by sending out messages about the delayed start due to weather.  Columbus is a very nice city and this race helps show it off.  The swim was better marked this year.  Someone did make the swim exit confusing by putting some matts out in the water but when I stood up and took a few steps I was on rocks.  The ride is very nice and the police do a great job with support.  The run was beautiful along the river but seems to have been as much as a mile extra.  It doesn't matter to me if it is 6.2 or 7 miles as long as it is communicated.  However, it could mess up All-American points for anyone going after those.  A well run race overall.  I will most likely be back.

Great well organized race.  Only areas for improvement that I feel worth noting have already been mentioned, but they are: more mile markers on the run and the run distance was just a tad longer than I had planned, but not a big deal, other than my pace was calculated on the planned run distance.  Fantastic race and the Race Director was a lovely hostess!

very well organized and executed in the face of unexpected weather delays.  great swim, cool bike route, run was a tad long, but hey, it's a triathlon.  won't miss it next year.
