Ok, I gotta say that the names are amusing here. Greenybeany, Dogcrazy, Looney2ns, Firefightinlibrarian (don't you just think there is a story behind that one?). In comparison, mine is kind of boring. Oh well. I do like your signature, Amanda. I seem to remember there were a bunch of photos to choose from and it's kind of fun to personalize it. Vegetarian, I assume?
I did W1D2 yesterday and it was ok, though the app I downloaded didn't thrill me. I think I need headphones because I couldn't hear the darn thing. I also kind of wanted warnings that I was about to run or about to walk, though to be fair I am still running for 60 SECONDS. lol I can hear it now-- "run" immediately followed by "and get ready to walk!" I may have to look at other apps for comparison. I'd like to be able to choose goofy voices if I could-- Arnold Schwarzenegger, etc.
When I did this before, a lot of people complained about hip and leg pain and I seem to remember folks suggesting that you go to a store that specializes in running shoes, where they can evaluate your gait and help correct for any minor issues. I think they even have computers in stores that do that? Anyone here more experienced with it? I know it sounds like an expense to buy special running shoes, but it's hugely worth it if it means the difference between you continuing to run and get healthy versus be a couch potato.
I'm a bit hypocritical though-- you should see the contraption I rig up because I don't own a good running bra. Not to get too personal, but I use a two bra approach and wonder every time why I don't just go shopping.
I laughed out loud about the "full circle"-- couch, to 5k, back to couch. I'll be interested to see how you make the transition from C25K to ongoing running. That was my downfall last time. What are kettle bell swings?
Amanda-- ever tried McDonald's unsweetened iced tea? If you're used to coke it would be an adjustment, but once you're used to it-- it's the best! Unfortunately it sometimes leads to french fries...
