anyone not from the U.S., please help me out w/something

this is going to sound completely ridiculous, but I heard a rumor and i want to see if it's true. How do you pronounce the letter "z"? not in a word...like if you're just saying the letter.

i'll explain later.

well, if this is not a joke, I can give you my $0.02

I am Brazilian. I pronounce it as "zee", but I've attended English classes where they pronouced "zed", not sure why... after I moved to the U.S. I never heard that one again...

Now explain why

That's adorably insular, but don't take that as an insult. I'm from Canada and, yes, we say 'zed', not 'zee'.

If I am not mistaken, the classes where I learned the "zed" version were British English classes... I can't tell for sure, since it was a long long time ago...

I'm in England, yes we pronounce it 'zed' here. I think it's only the US where it's pronounced 'zee'.

they pronounce it "zed". Its the British phonetic pronunciation. Its used in alot of countries Canada being one.
I have gone through so much **** about this lol. Take a kindergartener with a speech problem whose parents are Candadian who have taught her to say 'zed' and put her in a class in Texas and then the teacher saying that she is wrong over and over again because she is saying 'zed' instead of 'zee'. haha that was me lol.

Zed it is.

"Now I know my ABCs, next time won't you sing with Ned?"
"Sing in bed?"

Just doesn't scan right, so we just sang "sing with me..."

Although Canajun kids know about the "zee", we still teach them the "zed".

Id be one of the 99% that had no idea it was pronouced zed...

On a side note I am slightly disappointed with what facebook has done with all the added update ****. as are many other people..

Well, I think the 'sing with me part' is meant to rhyme with 'now I know my ABC's,' anyway:

qrstuVEE
wxy(and)ZEE

I think those two lines rhyme. =)

But you never know... 'Ned' could catch on anyway... =)

Re: anyone not from the U.S., please help me out w/something
for people who pronounce "zed", do you have a different way to sing the alphabet? or is it just us americans that made a song just to remember a bunch of letters? i also happen to fall in that 99% category that didn't know this fact (which i find quite interesting).
