A few friends and I (all runners and triathletes) werediscussing the fact that with all of the technology devices available torunners there is no easy and inexpensive way to track the miles on a specificpair of shoes. Of course this is important because we have all waited too longto replace shoes before and have felt the pain.
At the same time, we all own bracelet or anklet IDscontaining emergency information but we always forget to wear them.
So we started a company and built a device that does both, the MilestonePod. This small, inexpensive ($14.95) device allows you inputwhatever health and emergency information you would like and then you connectit to your laces. It remains on your laces as you run, and tracksand displays your mileage. You never have to remove it. On a daily basis, without having to do anything other than putting in your shoes, you arecounting miles on the shoe and carrying potentially lifesaving information.
One strategy for starting the company is to launch a campaignthrough a web site called Indiegogo. This allows us to get pre-orders for thedevice and raise awareness about the company. We would greatly appreciate it ifyou could share this news with your friends so they can determine if they wouldlike to support our effort, including placing an early order and/or sharing thenews with others. For as little as $15 they can get a device and help launch acompany. The campaign can be found at www.indiegogo.com/milestonepod and our web site is www.milestonepod.com .
