Best 5K race in North Carolina!  This is a very popular and competitive event.  Last year, the event attracted 1,000 participants including beginner and elite runners from around the state.  The evening start provides a break from the summer heat and creates a great sunset backdrop for the post race celebration and awards ceremony.  It is a great family event -- in addition to the featured 5K race, there is a one mile fun run/walk for all ages.  Beat the Heat provides special recognition to first time 5K runners.  Finally, an outstanding group of volunteers help make this a great event for all participants.
