5th Annual National Running Day

Los Angeles, CA – 06/05/2013—June 5th,today, is the fifth annual National Running Day. National Running Day wascreated to shed light on how many ways running improves lives and society.


National Running Day is celebrated across thecountry with organized events and impromptu celebrations.


"It is a coast-to-coast celebration of asport and activity that’s simple, inexpensive, and fun," reads thedescription of the day on the National Running Day site. "It’s the perfectway for longtime runners to reaffirm their love of running and for beginners tokick off a lifetime and life-changing commitment."


The day has mostly been about informalcelebrations. However in some areas there are some organized runs special tothe day. Organizers this year are also encouraging runners to donate to the OneFund Boston.
