I had a stress fracture on my left foot. i rested completley for 6 weeks. Went to see my Dr, a few days ago, and aftera clear x-ray got th okay to start running again slowly. So,I went out today and managed 3 kilometers, but their was some pain / sorness in the same area. Is this normal? Does it get better? This is very frustrating. Anyone else experience this after healed stress fracture?
I didn't answer this because I've never had a stress fracture. But my understanding is it can be sore for some time after it is healed. Here are a couple articles.
Had a stress fracture on my right fibula back in Sep/Oct, rested for several weeks and the cold and snow in New England delayed me from getting back out on a regular basis until late March/early April. Up to about 25 miles/week now (3x5 miles and up to 10 mile long run) and I still occasionally feel something in the area of the break. Think it's normal but don't try to push through it...back off if you have to.
