Spicegeek -- nice race!  How cool that your parents could be there.  No matter how old we get, it always feels good to have our parents cheering us on.  Hope your groin feels better and the weather clears up for you over there.

Spicegeek - Congrats on your 10k yesterday!  Cold and wet, not fun!  Yep, sounds like you should let that groin muscle heal.

Carol40 - Sounds like a fun race and you did really well!

Carol...nice race time!  WTG!

Spice...glad you are having a good time...sorry about the rain but great race! WTG!

How is everyone doing today?

I am going to take a rest day today and try to do some packing for my trip and then TRY to get up tomorrow morning to run 3.2 before DH leaves for work...we'll see...I am sooo not a morning person but I would like to get another run in before my trip and I really need a rest day today...a little sore in the legs after doing some yard work yesterday...so we'll see...

And Happy Birthday Yamahamama!  (Gosh its fun to type that! LOL!)

Re: 1/2 Marathon Trainers week of the 23rd

Well done to the racers, sounds like everyone is about to break either a 1 hour 10k or a 2 hour half!
I was away for a week, and eating too much rich food, but got in 4 short runs during the 6 days, one with really nasty hills. On the weekend I did a long run of about 20k, so got my total up to about 32 miles for the week, and yes, the hills were easier than before!
Its amazing how hard work pays off.
Simon.

Okay reality show junkies - Dancing with the Stars and Bachelor comes on tonight.  Anyone watching.  I am first going on a run.  Then going to enjoy.

Hi everyone, took a rest day today, by the time I got the suitcases unpacked last night it was already 2 am.

It is in the 90's again today but supposed to cool down at the end of the week, Yeah!!

I don't watch dancing with the stars but does anyone watch House? It comes on tomorrow night, I can't wait.

Hope everyone had a great monday, its back to work for me tomorrow.

Re: 1/2 Marathon Trainers week of the 23rd

Jen- congrats on your PR! I really enjoyed the report.  You have to have done a half marathon to know how hard the miles 11 and 12 can be...almost there but not quite.

Corrina- my half is next Sunday also. Today is a rest day and then tomorrow 5 slow and easy. Hoping to do 2 miles on Wed. & Thurs. just to stay loose and comfortable.

Well, my Saturday run was awful so I was apprehensive about running on Sunday. Decided to try for 6 miles on a gravel path. Managed the 6 miles at about 20 seconds over half marathon pace with negative splits. Just goes to show you have got to keep getting out there. And if we didn't have a bad run once in a while, how could we appreciate the good ones.

Re: 1/2 Marathon Trainers week of the 23rd

Happy belated birthday yamahamamma!

Sheila - sounds like you had a nice weekend !http://www.coolrunning.com/forums/smile.gif|src=http://www.coolrunning.com/forums/smile.gif|border=0!

Dan - hope you hear some good news...wtg getting that 4.5 in even though you did not sleep well!

Peg - Yeah I am awaiting some pics of an antelope in your lap! LOL.....where was this safari place?

Jen - heck yea stick around! I'm sure you'll run another 1/2 sometime right?

Joe - enjoy your rest day!

spicegeek - nice job on your 10k! I hope the injury feels better...

carol40 - nice job on your 10k as well! I get so annoyed at people who get in my way and won't yield...arrgh...

ctmama - I am not a morning person either, but once you get out there you'll feel better !http://www.coolrunning.com/forums/smile.gif|src=http://www.coolrunning.com/forums/smile.gif|border=0!

Simon - here's to rich food! I'm sure you worked it all off with that 20k run !http://www.coolrunning.com/forums/smile.gif|src=http://www.coolrunning.com/forums/smile.gif|border=0!

wbertha - I love your quote about the bad runs...that is so true.

I actually got up early (7 am ish - yeah that is early for me!) and went out to the park for 4 mile run. I kept the pace I wanted but was feeling a bit sluggish most of the way. Finally found some part-time work to occupy my time, thank goodness, thus the reason I had to get up earlier. Its ok for now but when the time changes I imagine it will be dark when I have to get up !http://www.coolrunning.com/forums/frown.gif|src=http://www.coolrunning.com/forums/frown.gif|border=0!

No reality TV for me tonight, I am way too excited about Vince Young on MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL!!

Re: 1/2 Marathon Trainers week of the 23rd

thanks for all the birthday wishes!

Carol-great race report! bummer about the crowds.

I am trying to get the motivation to get out and run right now.  I have been struggling to get out these past two weeks.  Only three weeks til my 1/2 so I know I have no time to spare.  I am letting you know I HAVE to run today so that I am accountable to someone...I know you all will ask if I did it so I will have to go.     Okay...one foot in front of the other. Here I go...

Re: 1/2 Marathon Trainers week of the 23rd

Jen - awesome race report and what a great time!

yamahamama - belated Happy BD and yahoo on the Garmin!

spicegeek - it's always nice to have someone waiting at the finish line for you hey?

carol - great RR on your 10k too and ya gotta love them Packers & Badgers!!!

So I faced my fear on Saturday and went out for a run. Too bad I was able to run for less than 1 mile total because of my ankle. This really is getting on my nerves!
Have the duathlon in Green Bay this Sunday so I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that I can finish it even if I have to walk. A friend is doing the running portions for her husband and since she doesn't run we may end up just walking it together.

Well, I must go finish watching Dancing with the Stars now...

Re: 1/2 Marathon Trainers week of the 23rd

Good Morning Peeps!

Last night I went to the Y and did upper body weights then sat in the hot tub to relieve some of the soreness in my legs. My legs are still quite sore today so I'm resting them one more day and I will get back to running tomorrow.

By the way, I just wanted to congratulate all the other racers we had this weekend. I loved reading the race reports.

Have a great day!

Re: 1/2 Marathon Trainers week of the 23rd

Morning!  Running 5 maybe 4 this afternoon.  Forecasted high for today is 88F.  Should be partly cloudy too!

SimonR - Good for you for sticking with the running on your trip!

Peg312 - How were the shows? We watched Heroes. Tonight is Biggest Loser isn't it?

Sheila - Yep, watching House tonight too. Not at the same time as BL is it?

Wbertha - I like what you say about if we didn't have a bad run once in a while, how could we appreciate the good ones!

Jeep725 - Does the park have a 4 mile path? Yep, Vince Young is from Texas! Why the Texans didn't pick him is beyond me!

Yamahamamma - Well, how did the run go?

Creative1 - Maybe do a Run/Walk or just walk it with your friend.

Dana - Glad you completed the run!

Jen - Rest up! I like the gym's hot tub too!

Joe

Re: 1/2 Marathon Trainers week of the 23rd

got in 3 miles this morning and i was really dragging, but i made it.  i ran on the 'mill and after my long run this past sunday, i was not happy about being inside.  oh well, maybe i'll be brave enough to run in the dark...just not yet.

i didn't watch any tv last night, not even the game...which is odd for me, but i needed a break.
