Re: Half Marathon trainers Nov 4th

Hi everyone, did 4 miles this afternoon while waiting for DD to get out of cheer practice.  This morning I did a pilates video.

Joe--Incase I don't get to post for a couple of days and I forget, good luck this weekend.

Marilyn, Good for you on the body fat, I did my healthy weigh in at work in Oct. and I'm still at 33%. Oh well, we just have to keep on plugging along.

To everyone else, keep up the good work, this thread is what is keeping me going right now since all my running partners have slacked off since our 1/2.

Re: Half Marathon trainers Nov 4th

Marilyn, all that I can say is WOW!!! That is fantastic.

Joe, good luck next weekend. Take it easy this week.

Kevin, you are going to love the Green Bay Half. You get to finish by running thru the players tunnel and then around Lambeau Field. Plus they announce your name as you finish. How many of us mere mortals can say that we had our names announced over the loud speakers at Lambeau Field?

Now a question: how does one get, find, kidnap a coach for half marathon training? Because hey, I want one too.

Rest day for me today but I broke down and packed up the old gym bag for tomorrow. With the time change, it looks like I will be tread milling it every Tues., Wed., and Thurs. with my outside runs limited to weekends. Oh well, at least it is not actually freezing or snowing outside.

Re: Half Marathon trainers Nov 4th

Joe-have a great race, save something for the last 5k, stick to your plan!

Kevin-running 6 times a week? Must be great to be young! Welcome to the group!

Spicegeek, what a great city you live in, to be able to watch the Olympic Trials one day and NYC Marathon the next. I have only seen Paula run on tv, cannot understand how she is so go with her head flopping around like that, she looks exhausted at 10k. Saw a Ryan Hall training video, poetry in motion, just so fluid, beautiful to see.

Marilyn, well done, a great feeling to be getting back in shape.
Chuck, keep up the good work. I am hoping to lose 5-10lbs too as I step up my mileage.

Ran 10 miles on Sunday, 89 minutes, definitely gloves and track pants weather!
Simon.

Re: Half Marathon trainers Nov 4th

Hey guys!  My run last night was horrible - I got 2.5 miles in and struggled the whole way.  I'm bummed - two bad runs in a row!  I feel like I've regressed terribly for some reason.  I know a good run will fix that feeling - I just hope it happens tomorrow on my good run.  I'm not going to switch to morning runs until I get out of this rut.

Parent teacher conferences tonight. Should be a good one. My son brought home a report card with all As and Bs - his first ever - he's struggled with academics until this year, he's seemed to have turned a corner somehow.

I'll be back for personals later - maybe on my lunch break!  Busy day at work.

Re: Half Marathon trainers Nov 4th

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone!  I'll be running 30 minutes today.

WBertha and Smiddleton, Yes, I have a coach. But not just for training for the 1/2. First I'll give you a little history about me.

I started running back in February on my birthday, yes

SimonR, I'm a young 53! I started with C25K program, When I finished I went right to OHR program and was almost finished with that program when I had an Achilles injury, some unpronounceable bursitis. Anyway in July I hired a coach off the internet, just did a search on 'running coaches', and ended up working with Jon Sinclair,

http://www.anaerobic.net/biography.html[/URL" target="_blank">

I hired a coach simply to keep myself from further injury. One of the first things he told me was I should be able to run EVERYDAY, not just every other day. I have to be creative,

Chamblin, sometimes I run at 3:30am, sometimes at 3:30pm, it depends on the day.

Marilyn, Great work with the Body fat! I went from 205 lbs to 150 lbs last spring, 'take that body fat'!

Good luck everyone with your runs today,

Kevin

Re: Half Marathon trainers Nov 4th

Hey guys - thanks for the advice on the knee - still feels a bit weak & I think fear of big-time injury is keeping me off of it (running-wise) again today - at least I really WANT to get out there, so my motivation is still high...promised my running buddy I would meet her tomorrow (Wed.) a.m. - so, I will run tomorrow - I plan to tell her to run fast w/o me, as I plan to really listen to my body and slow as needed.

Marilyn - WOO-HOO - great for you! Such an accomplishment - keep it up!

Joe - you're awesome - keep running (ditching work, too!).

Monnik - hey - we all have good days & not so good days - I'm proud that you are continuing to run - keep at it - you will pull through. Hope the parent-teacher conferences go well, we've got those coming up too!

Adios - back later - will definitely report after tomorrow a.m.'s run - say a few prayers for my right knee, please! Thx for the constant support!

Laurel - Thanks!  Hope your knee feels better for tomorrow's run!  But like you say, listen to your body!  Good to know, you're still motivated!  Can I go home now?  lol

Re: Half Marathon trainers Nov 4th

Good evening gang, a very windy 5 miler last night. The cold front came in the 2nd mile. I thinking that maybe running into a head wind might be a substitute for hills. Rest today.

Marilyn- great job on the body fat! I am guessing that the people around you every day are seeing your drastic changes.

Monnik- take all of those bad and not so bad runs and turn them into one fantastic run!

Good running
Stan

Re: Half Marathon trainers Nov 4th

Hit the treadmill tonight for a good steady 5 miler.  As much as I dislike the treadmill, it really is a good way to learn to pace one's self.  Got to go, lots to do yet tonight.
