Plan is to lose more than 20 lbs but I also need something to keep me motivated. Plus my Good Cholesterol is low and my bad cholesterol is high so I want to work on that. I just starting running (slogging) about three weeks ago and I might have to go on a Gluten Free diet(UGH)

I'm in!! I have no trouble in the exercise department, however my diet needs some attention. I think I need to switch to low GI foods, and cut out unnecessary calories. I also need to regain my willpower to say "no" to the stack of fundraising chocolate that has a permanent home at my office...

Okay; I'm in. I'm 46 and 5 foot one and 130. ugh!, Thyroid was messed up and gained 12 lbs in a year. On med now; and want to get back to at least 118 but 110 even better. Let me now what you guys are doing to stay off the sweets and on track. I'm new to this forum/site. I used to jog about 3-4 miles 5 days a week. I went out today and did 3.9; but boy with the cold air my lungs aren't happy! Hope we can do this. Thanks for any motivation. RD
Hey all! I am in like Flynn for this one. I just blocked out my 10K training plan for a Memorial Day race, so this will fit in perfectly. I only worry about my appetite which of course increases the more I run! No cookies, no cookies, no cookies!!!

I'm 37/F/147 lbs.
My weekly plan is to run 3 x and strength train 3 x. If I have time to add in extra walks w/ my dogs and yoga, I'll do that too. But I work full time, have a 5 y/o, and 3 dogs. I already have to get up at 4:30 a.m. to work out. But I'll do what I can!

I am in for sure. F / 5'8 / 148 lbs. I need today to be my official start though as I cannot take one more day of holiday unhealthiness! Seriously, I have had a lot of stress, bad eating, and no exercise since Thanksgiving which needs to stop now. It is making me very lethargic and moody!
Happy Boxing Day everyone! I don't think this is really how it is supposed to be celebrated, but I use this day to box up and throw out or donate all kinds of useless stuff from around the house as well as all bad food. I love it!
I will be starting a treadmill program tomorrow, with the intent to hit the road outdoors around mid-March (cold and darkness issues too much for me up here). I ran a half marathon in 2004 but haven't done much running wise since so I want to get back into it.

Hi! I would love to join this challenge. After I completed my first marathon in 2004 I pretty much stopped running and the weight just piled on. My husband and I are both trying to lose weight starting in January.
As for my exercise plan I would like to spend the winter building a base by gradually increasing my mileage and frequency. I guess I will be continuing to work on getting back to running 5 to 6 days per week. I have not ironed out all of the details yet.
As for diet, I plan to do more of a modified South Beach diet because I don't want to cut out all carbs, but I could stand to clean up my diet and choose more wholesome foods. For now I will focus on portion sizes and eating more veggies and whole grain carbs.

Relative newcomer here, but this sounds great! As for exercise, I have completed two 1/2 marathons recently using run/walk intervals. My goal is to complete a 1/2 in April and eliminate the walking intervals as much as possible, so I'm currently researching different training plans. As for diet, I'm just going to try to cut out the junk and increase my lean protein and veggies. It sounds simple, but I have a pretty severe McDonald's addiction! I am 37/F/5'9"/162.
Not sure I can lose 20 pounds or if it's even healthy to do so. Last time I was 108 I was 23 years old, lived in NYC, walked everywhere, and couldn't afford groceries. I'd be thrilled to be 115.

I just started running again about 6 weeks ago and have been putting in about 15 miles per week and doing weight training 3 days per week. I have just tried to be more active in my every day life as well.
I would love to lose about 20 lbs. I'd REALLY love to lose about 30 lbs. I was shooting for Feb 8 of 2007 because we are going to Cancun on that date. I thought I would start exercising again and the weight would just fall off but as of today I have not even lost 1 lb! It's really frustrating. I am reading the book "You On A Diet" and hope to follow the pointers in there. I really don't eat anything that's really bad though so I guess it's just portion control.
Anyway, whatever I weigh on January 1st will be posted and I'm in for the Challenge!!!!!

Grandparents are on their way over with home-made meatballs, sauce, gnocci, and some steak and wine for my favorite New Year's Eve dinner, so, I bet I can pack on another 2 pounds by the 1st too!
