Spencer,

don't beat yourself up over that.  i heard it was hot and not every race you run will be your best race.  and you might want to try taking it easy starting about 2 days out from a race..haha..just a thought.

Re: Macon Area Running

There will be a marathon and half-marathon in Albany on 3/3/07. Sponsored by Snickers Energy Bar and the first ever marathon in Albany. The really noteworthy thing (and the reason I'm writing about it) is that there is a $3,000 prize for the male winner and $3,000 for the female winner. Strange thing is that the prizes are not even mentioned on the marathon website. I got a poster that mentioned it, so I checked it out with the "race director" and she verified the prizes, but didn't bother to answer my question about why it wasn't on the website. Check it out on robinspacers.org. Registration deadline is Feb. 20 and substantial savings if you register by Sept. 1.

Re: Macon Area Running

That sounds like a plan depending on who else shows up!  $3000 is a pretty nice chunk of change for a local marathon!

Re: Macon Area Running

It has to be $3000 prize purse. That is higher than some major marathons . I'll believe it if I can see it in writing.

Re: Macon Area Running

I do THINK I'm coming down, but I'm still not sure on which race I'm running...it really all depends on how my weekend in Athens goes.  You going to Athens Alan?

Re: Macon Area Running

I'm new to this website. Don't know if anyone will answer this tonight, but I'm looking for someone to drive with down to Omega, GA from WR for the Pepper Festival 5K tomorrow morning. I can drive and you help pay for gas or vice versa.
Hey Marv.

Re: Macon Area Running

Josh, I was looking at my mile splits form 2003 ,2005 and today at the Fuzz Run. In 2003 I ran the last mile in 4:47 and in 2005 they built that wall I was talking about and I dont think they remeasured the course cause that day I ran my last mile in 5:05 and today in 5:20. so I believe it is alittle long. I think about 10 secs to long. Let me know if you are doing the Ediken. See ya in Atl.

Alan and I are already running with a team.  It would have been cool.  Maybe it's something to look into next year.

Re: Macon Area Running

Has been slow. I'm doing the Run for Sight 12k in Dublin this Saturday.

The weather is getting a lot more pleasant lately so I hope my miles will climb. I'm gonna run the Aviation again this year and hope for less wind.

Re: Macon Area Running

How'd the 12k in Dublin go?  I know there have been a lot of races in the area...have people been doing them?

I'm doing a small 5k on thursday in Carrollton and then I'm not sure if I'll do anything else before Chicago...only 20 more days!

Re: Macon Area Running

Josh,
The 12K went pretty well. It accomplished what I wanted which was to make me run hard. I intend to do a race a couple times a month leading up to the Aviation Marathon so
I'm not just putting in slow runs.

It was nice and chilly Saturday morning. Starting to feel like fall.

How did Ekiden go?

Steve
