I am way to slow for you! (Won't even bother posting my training pace...needless to say, you can probably walk faster.) Good luck though-- I assume you are working at Bluebird?

Really, I'm not that fast...and ya, I work for their branch plant here in Canada. 24 years...pretty much my whole adult life. I've been down that way a few times but never for as long as it looks like I will be coming up. Do you know anyone who works at the plant in Fort Valley?

Hey Thanks Scott...I'm interested in the wednesday night runs in Macon and maybe an early morning run or two. I try to get out early in the morning here at home (around 5am) and really enjoy the quiet...although, right now I'm nursing an achilles problem that's set me back this week. Do you have a contact for the Wesleyan College morning runs? Are they a bunch of students? I've already contacted Robins Pacers and they've been helpful. I'll be in town next week, so I may drop by Run Fit Sports.
Thanks again...

Re: Macon Area Running

There's no real contact for the Wesleyan runs. We meet in the parking lot that's on the corner of Forsyth and Tucker. We leave promptly at 5:45am, and on Tuesdays we go 5 miles, Thursdays we go 6. You're welcome to join us, just show up.The Run-Fit runs are posted on the Run-Fit sports website.
Good luck.

Re: Macon Area Running

Sounds good...I'm going to google map the location and probably come out in a couple of weeks. My schedule for next week is too uncertain at this point to start planning an early morning run when I don't know where I'm going. If I get a chance I'll try to drive there to get familiar with the area. I'll let you know when I plan to come out for sure. Looking at your profile...I'm going to have to pick up the pace...

Wesleyan is about half a mile from Run Fit Sports, on the same road, so once you find your way to Run Fit Sports, you've found your way to Wesleyan, so that'll help you kill two birds with one stone!

Re: Macon Area Running

I did the Tybee Marathon Saturday and had mixed results. I was hoping for some good weather to run in without too much
wind. The wind was not nearly as bad as 06 but it still was noticable.

My time was 3.32.06 which is a new pr but not what I was shooting for....3.30.

Anyone doing Al Toll or the Geico race? I'll make both hopefully.

Re: Macon Area Running

I'm planning to do the 5K at Mercer this Saturday and the Geico 12K. (Both fit into my training program for the half and are close at hand.) I've not done the Geico before-- what's it like? The website said it was hilly.

The Mercer event is called the Strive Run, and there's more info here in the bottom right corner: http://www2.mercer.edu/Athletics/default.htm[/URL" target="_blank">

Re: Macon Area Running

I wish i could say I would be participating in some of the races in the next couple of months.....but instead I am rotting away on a deployment in the Middle East!!  The good thing is that I am in a high altitude and running like a man posessed.  I let myself gain some unwanted weight over the holidays and I am trying to knock that down.  I feel like if I can't get down below 170 then i can never truly compete....so I am trying to get to 160 lbs.  My goal is to run 500 miles in the 4 moths I am here.  It is a lofty goal but it is driving me to run almost everyday.  I have been averaging just over 5 a day....and that is with a day off.  I do 5 miles worth of intervals on Wednesday and a long run on Saturday (next week is 10 miles).  I have logged 106 miles in just over 3 weeks.  I think it is safe to say that I have established a new record for myself.  Running is a great way to pass the time away and escape the stress of being here.  We need to get this thread going again.  I need somebody to talk running to.

By the way....Perry....those Nike's I have been running with from your store are freakin awesome. I swear I put over 500 miles on my last pair and they are still running worthy. I have another pair with me and those are getting broke in today.

Anyone know this guy? He's one lucky son of a gun!
I bet the girl was turning right and never looked once where she was going.

Macon police say a driver struck a jogger at Pierce Avenue and Gwinnett Drive and dragged him for 260 feet.

According to a Macon police news release, Aaron Barth, 24, was jogging around 8 a.m.

A 2002 Nissan X-Terra driven by 29-year-old Amanda Douglass turned from Gwinnett Drive onto Pierce Avenue and struck Barth, according to police.

Douglass told police that she thought she had a flat tire and didn't realize she had struck the man until an oncoming motorist saw him trapped under her vehicle and signaled her to stop.

Aaron Barth was taken to the Medical Center of Central Georgia where he is in stable condition.

This case is still under investigation.

Re: Macon Area Running

Spencer,
Keep your head down over there. Good luck with your running.

Scott,
I suspect the jogger might have been hit because of cell phone useage or makeup application. How in the world could she not have known she was dragging someone.

I'm doing Geico Saturday and then the Cherry Blossom on the 17th. That should get me ready for the ING Marathon in Atlanta on the 25th.

Great weather this week for running.

Re: Macon Area Running

The total is climbing....155 and counting.  I am averaging about 6 miles a day now.  I have nothing else to do but run and work.  Does anyone know of good weight workouts for running?  I am going to start lifting 3 times a week but i only know how to lift because of football (go heavy or go home).  So I need something better suited for running.  Alright then....someone start posting!!!  I am bored!!!
