Re: Montreal "cooler in winter" Runners

Thank you everyone for the kind words.   Booked the day off today and it feels wonderful not having to run around but take my sweet time today.

Went for a run around Lafontaine park and returned to the gym via Rachel to the monument and headed down the snake. Conditions were slushy and I overdressed. The mild winter we've experienced is truly the best gift a runner could receive.

Have a great day,

TB

Let's try this again ... yoohoo! Anyone out there? Anyone care to join me? Will I be all by my lonesome again?

Re: Montreal "cooler in winter" Runners

Alright, so it looks like I had to find runners outside CR ... will be doing an 8k run leaving at 9am Sunday morning instead of an 11k so I don't kill my friends or rather, they don't kill me.

Re: Montreal "cooler in winter" Runners

Monday deadline... so I'll be here (at work) on a friday night for a while and possibly most of the weekend taking time out to run and swim of course.

TB: Mild winter? Were you in town this week? At least we are not in Manitoba... (I know I still can't get over it. -50C!)

SS: Hello my fellow fishey friend... The difference between a masters team and a triathlon team is ... fly, back and breast... which is pretty fun and a good challenge. I don't know any runners who swim full breast stroke so I get away with fly kick and use the "I'm getting over a knee injury" excuse which works for now!!

How's your mom doing?

Belated appy Birthday Ninja! Ahhhh, to be 16 again!

Gomez!! What did you do with my Gazette?

Sally, Roly, Df et al. Did you seriously run outside today?

I played it safe when I heard the forcast and did my long run last night. Two hours and fifteen minutes from Lachine to Beaconsfield and back. I love running along the water, though it was a bit breezy. Tried out some Dollar store hand warmers for the first time and they work. Problem is, they glow for eight hours so if your run is only an hour or two.........? They actually get warmer as time goes on so I left them down for my cat, who had a good night sleep on them.

3.1 miles @ 7.27 min/mile + 5.4 miles @ 8.13 min/mile on the TM. Total 8.5 miles in 1:07:32 It's just too easy having the TM in the house. I'm training for the treadmill Olympics.
Bonus work: 25 k on the bike and some weight training.

Tomorow I will attempt to run in the trails near home for a slow 12 mile run.

Nope, just snowboarding ....BRRRRR!!! That wind, right into my face. I saw a man with frostbite on his face.

No running tomorrow either - I cancelled the morning run with my friends. Supposed to be something like -19C with windchill -32C or something silly like that.

I'm going to the pool. Any takers?

Hope everyone's having an amazing weekend!

Sally

Re: Montreal "cooler in winter" Runners

Any one interested in a 2.5 km snowshoe race up Mount Royal on February 22, 2007. Snowshoes are available at the race on race day for those who don't have.

Too cold for me today I'll run on the TM again I'll put up the heat and play tropical music and pretend it's summer.

Re: Montreal "cooler in winter" Runners

Pretty chilly out there this morning when the unforgiving wind was blowing.  Legs were unresponsive resulting in a slower pace. Saw a group of Running Room runners (10 and 1ers) so I guess they were in training for the Ottawa marathon.  Overall despite defying conventional wisdom running under these conditions will turn me into a mentally tougher runner.

Had the pleasure of seeing DF at the gym during my cool down period. Went for breakfast and enjoyed her company.

Have a great day everyone.

Question : Have any of you swam at the CEPSUM? Are any of you members and would like to go swim at 6:30am on tuesday or thursday to check it out?

TB: Working off the big Portugese supper???    You at least ate the sprig of parsley right?

Ms. (forgot her name) at the reception told me you'd gone out for a run... I spent 3 hours in the pool swimming, drills and poolrunning with Jen... I've decided that while the pool is small, it's a great place to practice breath control and hypoxic sets...

I'm off to buy one of those bank robber face masks and I don't care what I look like in it...

Re: Montreal "cooler in winter" Runners

8 miles on the T/M, bright and early - didn't want to try outdoors, shame, with the sunlight at lunchtime, perhaps not bad after all.  To avoid the boredom of the gym, tuned in the tunes and cnn...should be some interesting moments coming up in american politics.

Thanks for the company over eggs & bacon afterwards young man..remember what the lone diner who had been listening to us told us when we got up to leave ?

He had watched a show covering people who lived longer then others and the common factor among the group ? They were passionate about something.

Have a good week everyone - 'fly

PS - Roly - did your tropical run include flowered swimming trunks and a rum punch after ?
