Las Vegas update:
Picked up JB + DW at the airport at lunch time. JB looked lean and relaxed. Leaving their airport, I drove down a bit of The Strip on the way to their hotel. They could not stay away from the car windows trying to soak in the sensory overload of first-timers in Las Vegas. I think they were blown away to say the least. I dropped them off at their hotel, and then had to return to work.
While I finished my work day, JB + DW settled into their hotel room, and then did the tourist thing: get lost inside Caesar's Palace, took in the Atlantis show inside the Forum Shops at Caesar's, and checked out the Fountains at the Bellagio.
At that point, I picked them up, drove back home to pick-up Mrs. Mountmars, and we went to dinner at a Mexican restaurant (their suggestion) that's a favorite of ours. JB very generously picked the tab for a great dinner. Thanks JB!!! And thanks for the bagels!!! Mrs. Mountmars and I must have spent 10 minutes getting high inhaling the smell of real Montreal bagels. Wow... ambrosia...
Mrs. Mountmars & Mrs. JB discussed pre-race, race, and post-race strategies over dinner. JB is really excited about the race, but he's cool as a cucumber. Just the right frame of mind.
By the time we finished, it was about 8 PM... early for us, but with the 3-hour time difference and the travelling, they were pretty beat. So we drove them back to the hotel, and came home.
I'll be going to bed at a reasonable time, trying to catch a decent night's sleep before visiting the expo and a day of tourist activities. Obviously, tonight is the one to sleep since it's difficult to catch much the night before a marathon. Especially with a 6 AM gun time.
So that's it for now. I'll drop by tomorrow evening if I can.
Take care y'all.
Mars
