Re: Montreal "cooler in winter" Runners

If Chops can come back for a post, so can I...

Been very, VERY busy. The project is opening in 74 days. 15-hour days are becoming routine, and so are 7-day weeks.

I did need to take 3 days off 2 weeks ago... Mrs. Mountmars needed emergency surgery for the removal of her appendix. That went well. Post-surgery recovery did not. Her breathing collapsed and she was coughing her huge amounts of blood. 2 days of blood-thinners and multiple tests to see if she had blood clots in her lungs later, the medical team attributed the problem to a nasty reaction to the general anesthesia and lots of fluid in her lungs. The blood probably came from ruptured blood vessels that broke while her body was trying to force out all those fluids.

The incisions still hurt from time to time, and the breathing is good. She spent the whole day out with me yesterday, coming to work for a few hours, shopping, and meeting family for dinner. She's well on the way to recovery.

Needless to say, my next opportunity for a Montreal trip will likely be October.

Take care all.

Mars

About an 1 hour and 15 minutes today in pretty much the same snow conditions as yesterday but flat terrain. Ran thru fresh snow on some trails and thru areas where maybe one or two people passed before me. I must admit the mind was much more willing then the body and power hiked about 35% of the outing.

Nap time. I'm dead tired now. Day off tomorrow yipee

Salut Mars,  whoa, sounds like the two of you had a rough patch...sending the lovely Missus healing vibes, take care.

No running since Thursday, needed the rest I guess, some core and weight work yesterday and alot of walking.

Weekend already gone ?

Mars:  Sending positive vibes to the Mrs. Recover well.

The conditions today made the long run really difficult as compared with last week. Last week, it felt as if I received 50% discount in terms of effort. Today, I had to pay full price.

Snowy patches, ice and wind were things that I had to contend with. Argh.. I thought winter was behind us. I hope the conditions will be better next weekend in Hamilton.

Went home and napped. Ah... that feels good. Think I'll do some more.

...listening to my inner wimpitude, fed up with snow at the moment, 12 slow recovery miles 1:38, nothing to report apart from the mind-numbing-ness of the TM.....

Re: Montreal "cooler in winter" Runners

Mars. Terrible situation for the missus. I hope she recovers well and leaves in perfect health!

How are the masocist men doing, following their "easy" / recovery day?

I have two beautiful blood blisters on my right foot to go along with my neuroma. Why do they say that the TM is easier than the roads? No way!

Actually, even though it was a marathon race pace, the 13.1 miles that I did was relatively easy, in 1:30:30. Heart rate started to climb to 85% near the end though. Question is, will it stay there and allow me to keep the pace the rest of the way?

Keep sloggin' Ninja. Paris s'approche-vite!
