Re: Houston Runners

Hey there...no...I don't train with Katy Fit, but when my runs get longer I usually hit THP...right now I've been doing cullen, but because of the rains it's been a little flooded now and again

Re: Houston Runners

bush and cullen are connected in a weird way...the entrance of the dam further south on hwy 6 is considered bush park

Re: Houston Runners

My name should actually be lancensugarland but close enough.  Training approx. 50 miles a week, hoping to finish Houston this Jan. in sub 3.  We'll see.  The summer hasn't been bad at all this year, compared to normal.  Wet yes, but hot no.

Good luck everyone. Hang in there. Fall is just 8 weeks away.

I wanted to do a 15K in Dallas this weekend but couldn't find anyone who wanted to tag along and share gas.  Might do a 5K out in East Bernard instead, or do a long-run with a group at Memorial Park Saturday morning.

Re: Houston Runners

I ended up not racing at all, sigh.  I got in 14.2 miles Saturday morning with one of my training buddies, then Sunday I did about 10.5 miles with the guy who went out and won the 5K in East Bernard.  17:30.  It's intimidating to do a training run with someone like that but I was able to hang, thank goodness.

Re: Houston Runners

If any of you are looking for a group to train with out of Memorial Park for the Houston Half or whole, check out Houston Fit.  The program has been going on for a few weeks, but registration will continue to be open through July 31.  The website is www.houstonfit.com[/URL" target="_blank"> if anyone is interested.

Also, register for the Houston marathon before July 31st.  It goes up $15 to $100 (GULP) after that.  Gees it is so expensive now!

Re: Houston Runners

Hi all - just posted to the Boomers group because I'm 46.  I'm in NW Houston, in Week 4 of C25K.  Use to run in my 20's and 30's, but quit after having kids because being a working mom of 2 little ones left me no time for that.  Now that they are older, and don't need me every moment, it's a lot easier.  In fact, my 13 yo son sometimes runs with me.

A great site that I've used for mapping my runs is www.walkjogrun.net.[/URL" target="_blank"> It's great and really easy to use.

I'm looking forward to the fall (don't we all?!) and running some 5Ks beginning in late September, and definitely the Houston Zoo run and the Turkey Trot.

My challenge will be to keep it up once school and sports start up again. Both my boys play baseball and the younger one will also play soccer. AND they are both in Scouts.

Will check in here again later! Good running all!

-Laura

Re: Houston Runners

Hi all...I am in Pearland and will start W3 of C25K in the morning. This is my third attempt and I am determined to finish it this time!

Probably will do some 5Ks this fall. Marathon happens around the week of a huge project at work so not realistic this year, but maybe in the future.

Happy trails!
Lisa
