Pedal Comparison Question

I am looking to upgrade my pedals, since I currently have a set of MB Pedals on my Tri-Bike (1986 Trek Tri-Series). The problem is that I really don't want spend too much, but I still want good product.

Here is what I am looking at: the Look PP-396 and the Shimano PD-R540 SPD-SL are both in the price range. However, someone recommend the Ultegra PD-6610 SPD-SL which is more and in the price range of some of the Speedplay pedals.

I only have one bike to train and race with so I need something that will work well for both applications. Right now, I only run in sprints but may do an Olympic distance towards the end of the season.

I am not a small person 190/5'11" and I have heard that your weight may be factor in selecting a pedal. What should I be looking for in a Pedal.

I am willing to spend $90 on the pedals, but will spending the extra $60 really make any difference.

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
