If you are interested in objective studies on the benefits of stretching you might check with scolar.google and see if there is any peer-reviewed research in the area.I recall study done on army recruits in Australia or New Zealand. Their findings were contrary to the common belief that stretching prevented injuries.The study was the subject of a segment on NPR. You might find the interview with the lead researcher at npr.org.
