Half-Marathon Training Question

I have a question about training for a late-season half-marathon. Before I ask it, let me explain.

In the past, I have run in some road races. I actually started doing Triathlons as part of my recovery routine from my first marathon in May. I have since run in two sprint distance Triathlons (July and September) and loved them. The hardest part of switching from a marathon to sprint tri was the mental aspect of telling myself that I do not need to run six days a week to be properly trained. I have not really had any long runs past 60 minutes since I ran my marathon.

I plan on running a Half Marathon at the end of November. Most half marathon training plans are run specific, including the plan that I used to run this race same last year. My goal is to do some longer triathlons next year and I want to maintain some of the work that I have done this year while still having an off season of sort.

So now the question, what type of training plan should I use for a simple half-marathon? A run specific plan or a half ironman with reduced bike and swim?

Thanks for you input.

how about a modified half mary plan
use the running plan but substitute bikes and swims for easy runs/recovery days. my .02 a half IM plan would be overkill for a half mary

Re: Half-Marathon Training Question
Yeah, I'd go with that too. You could easily get away with only 3 runs a week (1x long run, 1 x speed work, 1 x hills or steady), and the rest bike/swim.
You may even find you are running better than ever because you're not trashing your legs all the time.
Having raced 5 ironman's with a run PR of 3:22, I'm a firm believer in 'less is more' - I never run more than 3 times a week...
