I'm a tri newbie who is looking for a training partner in the Orlando area. I'm a 28 yr. guy who is in great shape, but still very new to the sport of triathlon. Looking for a couple people who can push me to improve and who I can do the same for. Unfortunately there aren't any Tri-groups in Orlando. Go figure!
Hi. I just did my first tri at Disney this past Sunday. I had a great time, but I definately need to upgrade my bike - I really had no idea what I was getting into. I did fine on the swim and run. I did see that Orange Cycle has a training group, but I don't think I'm really at that level.
Someone to do bike rides with would be cool.
I live in downtown Orlando.
Congrats on finishing the Disney Tri Jeff! Last one I took part in was the OUC downtown and I'm looking forward to doing the Clermont Sprint next month. I live in the Seaworld area, so downtown isn't too much of a stretch. I didn't know about Orange Cycles having a group. I was just there yesterday, I'll have to ask next time. Do you know any good biking places in the area? Let's try to figure something out.
The two long trails I know of are the West Orange Trail, which starts out West past Winter Garden - and goes for I think 18 miles toward Apopka. The other is the Seminole-Wekeiva Trail, which is slightly shorter if you just do the main trail, but it has a bridge over I-4 that connects to two spurs - I just did that one for the first time a few weeks ago.
How about riding the West Orange Trail this Saturday or Sunday? I've ridden it once now and it was pretty good. I did a ride in Windermere today and there were a lot of pros there who decided to show me how good they were and how not good I am. Lot's 'o fun! The Winter Garden Station is a good place to start from. You ride up to Apopka and back and that's 30 miles. Let me know.
