Re: NYC Marathon Boomer Meetup
I'll be flying in about 10:30 AM Saturday and doing the Expo sometime that afternoon. Lunch sounds good! Where do you think would be a good spot as I don't know NYC well. I expect that the Central Park area will likely be way too crowded with the Men's Olympic Qualifier Marathon being held.

Re: NYC Marathon Boomer Meetup
I'll be getting in Friday evening. Maybe meet somewhere on the West Side down close to the Javits Convention Center? I will be headed down that way some time around lunch time to pick up my packet.

Re: NYC Marathon Boomer Meetup
I'm up for anything after coming in by train Friday evening. Barb, would it be better to meet near, rather than in, the expo? Maybe at some other landmark?

Watch out for those "express" trains.

I'm not planning on checking any baggage (all carry on). So time shouldn't be a problem. Something near the expo site seems good.

I'm arriving by car Friday evening and we're staying at a friends condo on East 53rd St.

I'm up for anything although I have to try and work it in with things my running buds will be doing as well.

I know that the Olympic Trials start early Saturday morning and will be done well before noon. Crowds might still be an issue over there though.

Bob,,

Don't know your plans for getting to the start, but NYRR is really pushing using the ferry. From E 53rd, you could just go to the 6 @ 51st & Lex. and then hop the 4 express at 42nd to Bowling Green. (Or you can head up to 59th or down to 42nd on foot.) The MTA has a schedule for the 4 (there's no 5 that early) to Bowling Green. There's a 4 train every 20 minutes (at 13, 33, and 53 past the hour), taking 17 minutes to get to Bowling Green, from which it's a couple of blocks south to the Ferry. Front of downtown 4, follow fellow runners. 4 Schedule[/URL" target="_blank">

Sounds good. Somehow, I was hoping we would be closer to Katz Deli (you know, from Harry Met Sally fame). Man, I love their Reubens! Eat one of those at 1:30 in the afternoon and you may not want supper!

Lower East End is not the most savory area in NY but they sure have some good Kosher food!

OK, I think we should meet AT a restaurant not at the expo.If anyone wants to meet to do the expo together then you can make those plans separately.
I will pick a spot, is 1:30 OK?

Nobody named numbers yet so correct me if I need to add here.

Thanks for all the great info jp but I'm really kind of lucky for this one. I was able to join the NYPD Running Club and as a result I also paid a little extra for the benifit of getting to ride their buses from Park Central Hotel on race morning. We leave promptly at 7:00 AM from there which is only about a mile from our coondo and the buses take us directly to the start area. Also as long as I wear my NYPD Running Club singlet I will get access to a VIP area at the finish and then get transportation back to the Park Central Hotel for hot showers and a post race party.

Things are really coming together, now if only the weather cooperates we should be in real good shape!

Re: NYC Marathon Boomer Meetup
It would be nice to meet some of you Boomers. Unforunately I think I'll be handling a lot of logistics in the morning and mid-day.

I'll be driving in Sat. morning (from Albany) with wife and son. I think the combination of hotel check-in and loines at the Expo check-in will burn most of the later morning and mid-day for me.

If the day goes smoothly, I am thinkning about doing a short two-mile easy run sometime before dinner. I might ask my son to come with me. Are any of y'all thinking about a light run on Saturday?

I am staying at a hotel on E. 39th St near Lexington.

I know that the three of us in my group that are running the marathon plan on a short 2-3 mile light run on Saturday afternoon / evening sometime. Don't know yet exactly when though.
