Looking for a Coach

I am looking for a coach or advice. I am 54. Last year I attempted an Ironman. Prior to signing up for IMCDA, I had only thought of Ironman events. Anyway, I tried to go from a sprint to an Ironman in one year. Anyway, I didn't finish. At mile 80 of the bike, I was told I wouldn't make the 5:30 cutoff time. IT was 4:00 and they were right. Anyway, I know everyone is different, but it seems mosts tri coaches are used to working with younger athletes. Anyone here sucessfully help/coach an older athlete?

I have coached older athletes, but primarily in swimming. Not to make an example of you, but for all posts.... if you're looking for races, coaches, etc., you need to include the region where you live and train, so those who read can give you more direction. To answer your question, yes you can still do it. You're never too old to learn and improve.

I would love to work with you! While it is never too late to do a good ironman, training seniors do need to mnake adjustments. I have coached a 72-74 year old to medals at Worlds. I have a lot of experience coaching ironman athletes of all ages, including a Hawaii Ironman division champion and two other podium finishers. I am author of The Triathlete's Guide to Run Training and Director of Training for Joe Friel's Ultrafit. More about my credentials is available at www.Fitness-Concepts.com Ken
