I randomly met up with folks in the parking lot after last year's lottery, so if I you aren't able to make arrangements ahead of time, there should be someone to run with anyway.  Be sure to smile when they announce "Bryon Powell" as an entrant for next year's race.  ;-)

Any other WS applicants out there who would be two-time losers (TTLs) if they don't get in on Saturday?  I'm one of the many who would be in that boat and have done some thinking about it as it doesn't seem possible that the TTL provision will be in place after this year. i agree with this. I also think the qualification standards should be a bit more rigid, either 100 mile/24 hour race only, or faster 50 mile times.

i like the buddy system though

No, but it would be a reasonable way to cut down on entrants into the lottery. i love going back to races and seeing how i change on the course from year to year. You are not a selfish you-know-what.
