Re: favorite running song(s)?

I don't usually run with music because I am with a group when I run outdoors.  If I am by myself, I do prefer the solitude to the music.  However, I would not survive running on the treadmill without my ipod.  I like an eclectic mix when I'm running, but the more upbeat songs are more motivating for me...

Warm-Up/Cool Down

Fight Outta You - Ben Harper

Give a Little Love - Rilo Kiley

Home - Chris Daughtry

Run

Little Favours - KT Tunstall

Bodyrock - Moby

Put Your Hands On Me - Joss Stone

Hella Good - No Doubt

Car Wheels On A Gravel Road - Lucinda Williams

Send Me On My Way - Rusted Root

What I Like About You - The Ramones

Snow - Red Hot Chili Peppers

Steady As She Goes - The Raconteurs

The Denial Twist - White Stripes

Learning to Fly - Tom Petty

The Best - Tina Turner

Comfort Eagle - Cake

Here Comes the Hotstepper - Ini Kamoze

I Walk the Line - Johhny Cash

Island in the Sun - Weezer

Say It Right - Nelly Furtado

Chewing Gum - Annie

Everybody Got Their Something - Nikki Costa

Beat Connection - LCD Soundsystem

Run Like Hell - Pink Floyd

I will run for cupcakes!!

Jeffbc, you have a great playlist!

In the interest of brevity, I'll just summarize my playlist by saying aggresive music like hard rock/punk is what drives me to run faster. Two songs in particular that give me a little extra boost:

"How Fast Can You Run" by Rocco de Luca (how ironic!)

"Far Behind" by Social Distortion

Re: favorite running song(s)?

I tend to listen to music when i'm on the treadmill, because it's so boring! The song that does it for me is I believe in a thing called love - The darkness. I just listen to it again and again, it helps me to just keep on going  as i just say to myself oh i'll just listen to it once more and it helps me keep the pace even.

"Scarlet Begonias - Fire On The Mountain" - Grateful Dead from the Barton Hall show, 5/8/77.  25+ minutes of Jerry and the boys jamming away - works out to an 8:40 pace - makes Miles 7-10 disappear in a Half.  I count on this one to get me through the Wall every time.

I have a new addition that I'd like to put on the list... "How Far We've Come" - Matchbox 20. It has such a frenetic, manic tempo that makes it fun to run to.

Re: favorite running song(s)?

Hey Runner Chick'en!!  Nice to see a familiar name here.   I see the Prof. has visited, too.   I miss the ol' Team EyePod gang.  If any of you are looking to run the VA Bch Rock 'n Roll Half or the Marine Corps this year, consider running for a charity that I'm involved with that provides after school programs for elementary and middle school students.  Here's the link:  http://www.eastonrocks.org/index.htm   You can register for either race through that site.

As for my favorite running songs.....oh, there are so many!  Here are some of the songs that got me through the L.A. Marathon (until my Pod died!!):

  • Going to California, Led Zeppelin

  • Heaven/Where True Love Goes, Yusef Islam (the artist formerly known as Cat Stevens)

  • Take Me to the River, Talking Heads

  • Lose Yourself, Eminem

  • Clocks, Coldplay

  • 1234, Feist

  • Shut Your Eyes, Snow Patrol

  • Better Man, Pearl Jam

  • Freedom, George Michael

  • Baba O'Reilly, The Who

  • I Confess, The English Beat

  • I Love L.A., Randy Newman

  • When You Were Young, The Killers

  • Wanna Be Startin' Somethin', Michael Jackson

  • Radio Nowhere, Bruce Sprinsteen

  • Flathead, The Fratellis

  • Beautiful Day, U2

  • Dreams, Van Halen

  • Every Picture Tells A Story, Rod Stewart

  • Vertigo, U2

Rock on, Team EyePod!

Re: favorite running song(s)?

I listen to my iPod on the treadmill and on the local 2 mile loop. It's the only way I can run.

Best for me:

  • Don't Tell Me by Madonna

  • Blood Makes Noise by Suzanne Vega (this is my #1 running song, perfect pace, perfect rhythm)

  • Slim Shady and Lose Yourself by Eminem

  • Let's Get It Started & Pump It by the BEP

  • We Care A Lot - don't remember who it's by, but I downloaded it after watching "Dirty Jobs" and remembering how much I love that song

  • Opening Credits Theme from Men in Black by Danny Elfman (no, not Will Smith's song, this is just the instrumental music). For that matter, LOTS of stuff by Danny Elfman is fun to run to.

  • Babylon 5 theme songs, great for a quick short sprint

  • Theme from Mission Impossible

  • One of the James Bond themes by Moby

  • Cantaloop (forget who this song is by)

  • Devil Went Down to Georgia by the CDB

  • Just a Ride by Jem

Re: favorite running song(s)?

Well I seem to be the opposite of "old school" im more into the new age type of stuff which would be something along the lines of hardcore/punk and such. Im not too sure why, but it seems to really pump me up and get me into the moment. I find that in slower songs i get off topic and end up getting to much into what i am doing. Honestly im not one to really train with music yet when I do its more to get me motivated. Some of the songs would be Chiodos, A Skylit Drive, At the Throne of Judgement, and those types of music; NOTE: if you are not for hardcore do not even look them up. This music is more the kind of stuff that gets anger out and gets you extremely motivated (well, me at least).

Reguards.
