If someone wants to try music with a latin touch, I recommend:

    - Pacha Massive: take the wheel; don't let go; take it easy (live)

They put me in orbit! ;-)

'Til I Collapse' by Eminem.  That song gets me so pumped up, I always run faster, and the words are perfect for running.  I also like a lot of the songs from the movie '300' soundtrack, no words but great beats.

"He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint." Isaiah 40:29-31

"Kashmir" by Led Zeppelin.  Talk about a beat that gets me in the zone................

Another good one for you "hip hop runners" that I just put onto my shuffle is Young Jeezy's Put On.  I found myself listen to that song 3 straight times on last night's run.

Boom Boom Pow by the Black-Eyed Peas, Rearviewmirror by Pearl Jam (has a great rhythm that sets the perfect stride), and Supermassive Black Hole by Muse.

The song that goes on every one of my running playlists is "Heroes" by David Cook.  Love that song and very motivating!

    Re: favorite running song(s)?

My running playlist is over five hours of music now, constantly growing.. I've already added a few new ones posted in this thread lol.. Most of my playlist consists of fast paced songs whose beat is close to my running pace, or are dramatic/motivational songs that stir something within. Race day is different - I make a separate playlist for the race - tailor it specifically to the race, knowing where I will be mentally and physically at different times throughout the race. From the pre-race anticipation, to the gun going off, those first few miles when I'm warming up, to when I've hit my stride.. then fighting to keep my stride.. Especially useful at the foot of "Doomsday Hill"

At the top of the race-list are a few songs/artists that have been repeatedly mentioned in this thread:

Mark Isham - Army Strong (instrumental - pre-race song)

Linkin Park - Numb, In the End, and my newest fav - New Devide

    Eminem - Lose Yourself

    Red Rider - Lunatic Fringe

John Parr - St. Elmo's Fire

Rise to Glory - CBS's Monday Night Football theme from a few years ago

    Nickelback/Kid Rock - Saturday Night's Alright

Boston - Higher Power, I Think I Like It

    Europe - Final Countdown

    Three Six Mafia - It's a Fight

Queen - I Want it All, One Vision

I try not to listen to these particular songs very often.. prefer to save them for race day or when I'm pushing myself in a workout.

    Re: favorite running song(s)?

So I have been working on creating a running playlist that keeps me on pace for my 7 mile daily runs at a 7:40-8:00 mile

Animal I Have Become - 3 Days Grace

    Pain - Jimmy Eat World

    Honestly - Cartel

    Lithium - Nirvana

Pour Some Sugar on Me - Def Leppard

    Fuel - Metallica

    I Stand Alon - GodSmack

    Pieces - Sum 41

    Higher - Creed

    Bad Medicine - Bon Jovi

    Dr. Feelgood - Motley Crue

Talk Dirty to Me - Poison

    Rock Star - Nickelback

I cannot believe some of the post about using ipods. I think they are a great modivator and allow you to crankout the miles needed for race day. I do not wear mine during races as I feel the crowd is enough. But I don;t knock anyone that does because I know how much it helps me through my long runs. Just stay alert and aware of your surroundings while running on the road.

Thanks for bringing up that movie.  It didn't come near where I live and I missed out.  You remind me that I need to find that and watch it...Thanks!

P.S. that is a great quote, I would go so far as change it to "It is the moments that challenge us that end up defining who we are."  We can just skate thru the easy kids stuff.

    Re: favorite running song(s)?

Bootsy - Completely agree about changing the quote. I only left "Sometimes" in so the quote would be true to the movie.. BTW, if you have Netflix, it's available on Watch Instantly.
