    Re: favorite running song(s)?

I have two playlists on my iPod.

My warm up songs include slower things to clear my mind while I jog, stretch, stride.  Dave Matthews, REM, and Third Eye Blind fill out most of this playlist.

My race songs are much more upbeat.  Though constantly changing, the staples are:

    Shipping Up to Boston-Dropkick Murphys

    Guerilla Radio-Rage Against the Machine

    Run This Town-JayZ

For daily runs/training, I hit the shuffle button and listen to almost anything that comes on.  I fill out my race day playlist based on what has worked leading up to that race.  Mostly Red Hot Chili Peppers and Pearl Jam.

The Kleptones - A Night At The Hip Hopera (linked to wikipedia article on it)

This is a 78 minute continuous mashup with the music of 21 Queen songs mashed up with hip hop/rap and ~150 movie samples. I'm not a fan of hop hop/rap however in the form of a mashup I can tolerate it. Without question my favorite running song for my long runs as it is 78 minutes long and they even have samples of the song "Marathon" (Dilated Peoples) about 20 minutes in as a bonus. Definitely should keep you occupied for the entire time trying to determine which movies the sample are from. Personally I prefer the 2nd half over the 1st half starting around 42 minutes. Quite a few f-bombs (it's rap) dropped in there so it may be offensive to some. Parental discretion is highly suggested.

I have an eclectic mix also - all have to be upbeat and a good driving beat. Fighter by Christina Aguilera, Rocky Theme, Kiss It by Macy Grey, Paper Planes by M.I.A., Enter Sandman by Metallica.

I cannot run to thrash metal, screamo, rap, hiphop, r&b, or country.

Other than that, my playlists are very eclectic - Broadway, neoswing, punk pop, classical crossover, dance, Top 40, marches,  80s pop, opera, Christian alternative, 70s classic rock, Celtic rock.

    Re: favorite running song(s)?

Metal: Broken, Beat & Scarred -- Metallica. Reason: What does kill you makes you stronger, just like running

Metal: Any Instrumental Song by Metallica (Orion, Suicide & Redemption, Call of Ktulu)

Christian: Anything by TobyMac: Tonight, Suddenly, Funky Jesus Music, Diverse City, etc

Rock: Anything off of Slash's New Album -- Ghost, Dr Alibi, Beautiful Dangerous

I find the louder the music, the more it keeps me going.
