Smelly Running Clothes

I almost never wear running clothes twice without washing in the summer (I have several running shorts and shirts) but I do it all the time in the winter... I know, gross. I sometimes go days without washin', and you know you smell BAD when you can smell your own stench. Anyone else? – MM
Oh yeah.
And, even during the summer I'll wear the same pair of shorts multiple times.
I really needed to pick up a couple of things at the store the other day on the way back from running but I gave the rest of humanity a break and went home first. lol
Once I wear it - It gets washed. Period
I have the Misses to thank for this!

i used to think it was really gross, but now i wear them at least twice...sometimes more. a couple months ago, i wore the same clothes for a week...byt the end even i was disgusted.
I'm with Mark...once it's all sweaty, it gets washed. I don't have a spouse, but I do have a washer, and I appreciate cleanliness--its just gross to put something on that was drenched in sweat, especially if it smells.
I don't know why people make fun of me for this, but I just rinse out my shorts/tights/windbriefs in the shower. Give them a good rinsing, ring them out a few times and you can re-wear them many times. Works for socks too.
For those of us lucky (?) enough to be single, you can then just hang them over the shower curtain and they'll be dry by the next day. I also have a drying rack that I use when I can remember to bring the clothes back upstairs with me (my shower is downstairs).
I typically run with other people and can't stand being stank
before
a run. I don't want to be stank in the event I have to rescue a damsel in distress either.

There's plenty of time for rest when you're dead.
Well, I guess because I get so sick of doing laundry- always TONS of it with 3 kids-- or maybe because I don't want my clothes (especially those expensive sports bras) to lose elasticity, but I almost always (unless its summer) wear things over and over again. I always wash my socks after every use but everything else gets hung up again to wear the next day- my dh is obsessed with cleanliness and he has never said anything about this habit of mine- so I guess I can't be smelling too badly!! !http://www.coolrunning.com/forums/smile.gif|src=http://www.coolrunning.com/forums/smile.gif|border=0! <br /><br />--
Once I started running, I realized I could never stop.My Profile[/URL" target="_blank">
Never tried it on clothes, but it works for smelly shoes. Seal them in a plastic bag and freeze them for 24-48 hours. Kills the bacteria that stinks.

Bacteria don't die in freezing temperatures.

I'n the cooler temps I'll re wear some of my clothes. With recent temps, just my daily layers is a full load. I'd be setting a poor example if my DH and I talk about doing little things to reduce even a few green house gases, then wash things that aren't really dirty......I do stay down wind of my friends and loved ones though.

Well - freezing may not kill the bacteria (I am no scientist) but my shoes don't stink anymore after freezing them.

If any of you are finding that they are still stinky after they get washed, try soaking them in some baking soda and water for about an hour before you wash them. This will neutralize the acidity from your sweat.

Smelly shoes? You all think your shoes are smelly?? Pah-leeeze, I wear rock climbing shoes without socks (most people were them that way), they are leather and hold all kinds of wonderful bacteria, bugs and biohazards. I can't stand the smell of them and when I spray lysol in them they just smell worse... Just like most leather shoes, they are perfect when they are good and smelly...

I thought it was viruses that didn't die? Anyway, it does seem to work for whatever reason I froze mine after reading this last night and later today I've been wearing them all morning and they are virtually stank free !http://www.coolrunning.com/forums/biggrin.gif|src=http://www.coolrunning.com/forums/biggrin.gif|border=0!
