Australian Interstate Baseball since 1934 :: The Claxton Shield

For those interested in latest National Aussie Baseball, click below.

2008 might be the last year the Claxton Shield will be played, to be

replaced by the new MLB backed Aussie National Baseball League next

Claxton Shield baseball started in 1934 and is an annual rivalry between the Aussie State's best baseball players.

Unfortunately some of the top Aussie MLB and AAA players have been shut

down from playing Winter ball here this season, hopefully next season

with the new Aussie National League we will not only have all the top

Aussies playing but also some USA and overseas AAA/MLB Import players

allocated to teams here by their MLB clubs.

A number of Aussie players from the State teams are currently on MLB 40 Man Rosters or have been invited to MLB Team Spring Training.

Lots of new Aussie up and coming players also playing during Claxton Shield and the MLB scouts are as

thick as flies here at present. The National U18 Titles are also on

next week in Perth with the Country's top 16 and 17 year olds going at

it hard for their State and to possibly get signed Pro.

3 PHL young U18 Juniors are playing for Queensland with a chance of being signed by a scout.

My team is the Queensland Rams including 3 Senior players from my PHL Club.

Riki Paewai . Relief Pitcher , Ex SD Padres Minors

David Sutherland , 1st Base , Ex LA Dodgers Minors

Joel Naughton , Catcher , Current Phillies Minors
