Put this question to bed: Charging for C25K?

I have responded to folks saying I did not think you would be charging for C25K. For the record, I think charging for it would be a really, really bad idea. Please answer this question once and for all.

Thanks,

Valerie

They charge for the "Active Trainer" download. Anyone know what the "Active Trainer" does?

Not sure, but you can download Robert Ullrey's C25K nine week training podcasts for free through iTunes.

The paid version will automatically enter what you need to run into the activetrainer calendar. I think you also get motivational e-mail but I am not sure. I have heard, I think from Active Toby that the posting on the CR website will remain there and be free (as in beer).

Re: Put this question to bed: Charging for C25K?

Hi guys,

I wanted to follow up on/confirm Michael's post (thanks Michael :) )...

Yes, the C25K version posted on CR.com will remain available for free Yes, there is a paid version available on Active Trainer. It will automatically load the C25K workouts into your Active Trainer calendar, allowing the user to log their actual workouts completed against the plan. The system will also send you daily workout reminders via email.

Please don't hesitate with any additional questions about the Trainer product (or anything else).

Best,

Geoff

Geoff:

I won't hesitate to ask - please don't hesitate to answer!

Why don't you ditch the crappy Active Trainer log and offer your customers what they have been asking for since this botched "transition" - an easy to use and powerful log for runners much like the old coolrunning log? I have been hearing that you are listening but there have been virtually no changes to the crappy product (Active Trainer) you offer. A user has to log the same data multiple times just to record a completed run. Read the posts - there have been much input provided and virtually no feedback and no changes to Active Trainer. You have lost most of the user base from coolrunning - are you guys going to do anything or do you really believe you had it right the first time? If you acknowledge it needs to change, then when will it change?

Hi,

Dave Camire will be making announcement next week that'll include details about functionality improvements to the Active Trainer product. Thanks for being so patient.

Have a great weekend.

Best,

Geoff

Re: Put this question to bed: Charging for C25K?

Thanks for the reply - and sorry for being a bit snippy about it. I look forward to the news. I do think most of the former coolrunners were really turned off by how poorly the tranisition came off (despite the hard work that I am sure you and others were putting in). Who really knows what type of internal issues or deadlines or expectations you were all under but from the outside, the loyal community of coolrunners received:

  • significant issues in migration of running log data

  • significant issues in migration of forum posts

  • significant problems with transition of user account data

  • difficulties in logging into a site that was clearly labelled as "beta"

  • a significantly inferior running log

  • ads to subscribe to new features (when the free features were inferior to what was offerred before)

  • confusing and difficult to use navigation (still exists - why are you blocking off coolrunners from the rest of your running community - and the rest of your community at large?)

  • a group of moderators and management that increased frustration with a lack of acknowledgement of the issues and the lack of plan for responding
